I like the pulley lines there is slight drag around the corners but after the 3 or 4th pass you learn to compensate. This place is awsome in the summer.
Whenever I want to give my son a treat, I take him to Texas Ski Ranch to wake board. The rates are very reasonable when you consider the vast artificial lake, all of the staff they have on hand, and the equipment that is always in great shape to rent. Hungry? Wahoo's is a great restaurant upstairs that also offers a great view from their balcony to enjoy watching in the shade. There is also a sunny beach with sand for those who want to tan. Lessons are available for beginners. This is a fun party destination with a skate board area and trampolines too.
I have 4 teenage boys and they love spending the day at TSR! From wake boarding to snow boarding to the skate park and more, they are exhausted at the end of the day. With Yahoos there to provide a good pick me up, I can leave them knowing they have everything they need for the day. Thanks TSR for providing a safe place that is fun for my boys!
This is one of the most interesting places I have been to. It is a man made lake with cables that have rope and handles hanging down to the water. You get your wakeboard ready and when the rope comes by on the cable you grab hold. The cable pulls you around the lake and gives you the freedom to go over jumps, ramps and different obstacles, or you can just do your thing your way.
This morning we made the effort to be at the TSR by 9am. I thought there would be a large line for the early bird special of $25 equipment and cable pass. But not today. The guys running the equipment were as sincere and laid back as I have seen. Everyone was important and they took the time to share their knowledge with everyone. I thought the guy might get tired with all the fails and skip a few folks but he consistently shared his expertise. Great group of professionals running the place, you can tell they Love their careers.
If you have teenage kids, they will love going to the ski ranch. Pretty eassy to get signed up and get your equipment and the staff there is very helpfull and are happy to tell your kids what to do to have the best time.
Stopped by to see the Texas Waksesurfing Championships. Well maintained location, mainly for wake boarding, so you can't rent wake surf boards and you have to take lessons??? but beside you get everything what you need for a day of watersports.
In San Antonio for business, hit this on way to Austin. Staff were awesome, helpful, chill. My dock start was rusty after not being on cable for 4 years but handle dude was cool. Thought goats were fake at first until they moved. Gnar. Live goats while you're zooming around. OWC will never have goats-ever. Not going back to Texas anytime soon, but if you're around here 5 out of 5 stars for having a cable in the middle of nowhere. Great place. Thanks to everyone at TSR.
Our entire family had an awesome time wake boarding. The staff was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Our dogs were welcomed and loved it! The shrimp bowl is to die for. Will back for sure
to learn to wake board. Our grandchildren love it there. The set up is user friendly and safe. The staff does very well.
Wake-boarding, snowboarding, skateboarding, trampoline park and Wahoo's restaurant all in one location! Fun, fun, fun! You can even spend all day there relaxing on the beach!
Hi Chrissear,So glad your husband and son decided to learn how to wakeboard! So sorry about the hard falls, our advice would be to spend a little more time on the beginner cable... not to be in such a hurry to graduate. Learning a new sport takes time and two hours really isn't very long! That is why we have a beginner lake and the main cable. I would recommend a couple more visits, for most people who come to TSR, they find that the third visit is the magic visit, when it all falls into place. The kids would also benifit from a four hour or full day pass, believe it or not, they do have the energy! The beginner lake is perfect for younger kids too, our day campers start at the age of 5! They love the gentle pull of the "Lil Bro" and they love being the center of attention, riding one at a time while everyone watches. They will be in no hurry to move up to the main cable!I hope you can make it back to TSR, maybe try our early bird special - weekday mornings in summer 9:00 to noon just $22.00 - includes rentals!
Great for kids and big kids of all ages. If you're riding the cables, the prices are much better during their "early bird" from 9-12am.
The ski ranch is a tow-line type kneeboarding park with a restaurant called "Wahoo's". The bar overlooks the lake and serves cold beer and excellent fish tacos.
I have been to TSR twice in the last two weeks and it has always been a lot of fun. The early-bird special allows you to wakeboard for 3 hours for just 24$ rentals included! The guys running the cables are all really nice and helpful and for my level the rails and jumps are more than enough to challenge me all day :) Food is good, water is warm (in the summer at least). I'd personally would have liked a bit more shade. They also have a spring trampoline park but I did not have any energy left to try that too :)
