Lovely park with huge live oaks. the springs and river, Panther Canyon and the Landa Park train. We had a very good time in spite of the construction going on.
we liked going for a walk, watching the geese, having a picnic. It is ideal for families' We liked going to the Founders Oak. It has history. We will always go back if we are in the neighbourhood.
Nice, Quiet, Serene. A little bit of city noise but still a very enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.
Loved hiking through Panther Canyon (about 2 miles in and out), then had a wonderful walk around the park. People are friendly, gorgeous trees, hopefully they will finish enhancing the park soon, lots of construction currently
I visited Landa Park today. Construction is still ongoing, but seems to be finishing soon. It is still a great place to walk and view nature. There are many species of ducks in the river. There were quite a few visitors today since the weather was perfect.
Otherwise, a charming park with lots of picnic tables and a great swimming hole!! There's also a regular lined pool and a small train....
The park is very clean and they have many activities for children to play on. The train ride is exciting for children and parents. Great place for walking and enjoy the ducks.
Took the family to wurstfest in landa park. It was fun took mu daughter on rides and played agame and won a prize a stuff lizard. Enjoyed the food at wurstfest, there was music and families enjoying themselves. We are going again next year.
Landa Park is a great place to visit. It is near downtown New Braunfels with quite a few activities such as (1) a cute train which gives you a nice tour of the park, (2) a very inexpensive water park, (3) a recently refurbished golf course, and (4) 3 different age-appropriate play grounds near pavilions which can be rented for larger gatherings.
This is one of the reasons we live in New Braunfels. The park is a beautiful asset for our city and is always clean and presentable. You'll feel comfortable having your kids play on the playground and generally explore this huge park. Well worth the trip if you have restless kids needing something to do. Ride the mini train, feed the ducks...swim in the natural pool...it's awesome.
Beautiful, historic Landa Park is undergoing a much needed facelift at the moment. The Park still offers shaded picnic areas, up to date playgrounds for the Kids and events at it's famous Dance Slab. But.... Landa is moving into the future too. The crumbling walls of it's Spring fed streams are being replaced. Bridges are being replaced, after a devastating flood four years ago, and landscaping is being renewed. The best part of the Park is still in place, it's wonderful trees. The Founder's Oak, the centerpiece of the Arboretum, is truly breathtaking. This Texas Heritage Tree is over 300 years old and is well worth a visit to Landa by itself. Landa Park is one of those old time family places, the type of Park simply made for everyone to enjoy. There's even a small train that will take you around the Park and beyond. And.... the Park now has a Tiny Little Library near the playgrounds.
It is good to drink in the fresh air as I walk the perimeter of the park grounds. Cool water flows in the Comal River, and Landa lake comes alive with paddle boats on the weekends. The spring fed pool or do you prefer chlorinated? We have them both in season. Mini-golf, our legendary mini-train that pleases passengers young and old. My grands love it when I pull out the day old bread and hand out slices for them to break up and toss to the water fowl that awaits them. But wait. Sanctuary. Early in the morning...this is a wonderful place to unwrap your day. Take a walk inspecting the variety of trees with a brochure that lists and describes the arboretum that was planned and continues here. Oh, and don't forget to find the springs. There are several here that feed into the Comal River, which is the shortest river in Texas at only three miles until it flows into the Guadalupe. Did I mention Panther Canyon? Once you've investigated the springs, you are close to the entrance of Panther Canyon where there is a moderately easy trail to walk. You can imagine what this area looked like when the indians still walked these pathways and the early settlers thrilled to build their dreamed of homes in New Braunfels.
Landa Park never has any parking. We live in New Braunfels and I cant tell you how many times we have packed all of our stuff to go to Landa park and had to leave because we could not find a parking space.
We used to go here during Wurstfest, but have found it a great place just to go and relax, grill some hot dogs and burgers, and enjoy the quieter park, compared to the huge Schlitterbahn close by.Plenty of free parking, paddle boats for rent, just a nice area for the kids to run around and have a good time.
Landa park is very diverse with something everyone would enjoy. There are natural springs, several playgrounds, picnic areas, large pavilions for group gatherings, volleyball courts, a hiking trail, walking trails, a train, golf course, fishing, tame ducks, geese, squirrels, and deer, aquatic center, putt putt golf, paddle boats, and a golf course. Some of these things are seasonal and currently there is a construction project going on which blocks portions of the park off. In addition, our recent drought has resulted in the several of the popular springs drying up, but despite these things, I still enjoy going there often.
