This museum is a must see for everyone. It is thoughtfully planned out with lots of hands on activities for children and adults. The 9-11 section brought tears to my eyes. Loved the replica of the oval office. You can have your picture by a photographer or they will gladly take one with your cell phone or camera for you. You can even sit on the other furniture in the room. You get a good feel of the man here and they didn't skimp on Laura either. I didn't get to walk the grounds due to rain but hope to do so one day. Parking can be limited but there is a parking garage nearby plus Dart parking across the highway with a shuttle running to the museum so it's doable. The only thing I would have liked to have seen was a section on his time as governor of Texas. I either didn't see it or it wasn't there.
The 9/11 section Brought me to tears, Very moving! Lots of hands on things for the kids. Parking was tough. $7Bought tickets online $16Would love to come back in late spring to see the Gardens. Rained today
Take plenty of time as the exhibits are well thought out and worth spending enough time to see especially the 9/11 tribute section. Nice combo of videos, exhibits and be sure and stop by the cafe - it's great, too!
Many interactive displays bring this library to life. Displays and many short movies really let you get to know George as a person and family man. Lots of info on laura bush too who was such an elegant first lady. Truly enjoyed this. Good for any age. Get the I phone to use to hear more info. They have a track for kids as well as teachers or just interested adults. Just a nice life story with tons of history made intetesting.
The Presidential Library was a trip into history. My favorite was the reproduction of the oval office and imagining what it was like to be there. You can also take a photo. In the decision room visitors can pick a topic that occurred during the Bush Administration with both sides of the issue. You can decide what you would do and see what President Bush chose to do. The 9/11 section is moving and important to include as it affected his term immensely. I enjoyed seeing Laura's fashion and her warmth came across. The Library is worth the visit and for us the parking was just across the street.
We've been to several Presidential Libraries and this one is the biggest and most lavish. Many video presentations; some larger than life! Would have preferred an audio tour with headphones instead of the I-phone type they have. Loved the replica of the Oval Office! Café 43 was delicious!
First time visiting a presidential libraryVery nice building with lovely stoneInteresting exhibitsIt shows GW had a good sense of humour Great Oval Office mock up and you can sit and photograph anywhereA bit pricey though17 dollars in and 6 for parking Recommended
Whether you liked him or not this library is worth a visit for the 9/11 section on its own. It brought back some deep memories of that time. The reproduction of the oval office was pretty cool as well but probably the most interesting was the decision points display. You go in and the entire group gets to choose an area from the Bush presidency that they would like to review and make a decision on (Katrina, 9/11, Iraq War and others). You get to review the data that we had at the time, see points and counter points and make decisions based on what you know and the possible outcomes. It was a pretty neat experience and gives a BRIEF glimpse into what goes into making a decision at that level.
The Presidential Library is located on the campus of SMU and parking is limited. I took the shuttle and avoiding trying to find a spot to park. Being that this is the newest (as of March 2015) is by far the most technology advanced. You have a ipod that guides you a round and audio provided. There is a decision room, where you can pick a topic that occurred during the Bush time in office and here opposing sides of the issues. Then you get to pick what you would do and compare it to what President Bush actually did. 9/11 exhibit is very moving and reminds you that the country can be 100% united when needed. A full sized oval office is on site and they staff will take a picture of you at the presidential desk. This is a must visit when in Dallas area.
This is one of the best things Dallas has to offer. Just seeing the 9/11 exhibit brought back so many emotions. Very good for people of all ages.
A truly inspirational sojourn. Made me want to visit the other 42. Dem or Rep, Blue or Red, this is a must.
If history and politics interest you then yes don't miss this museum during your time in Dallas. However if these things don't peak your interest then you can skip it.
Very good for all the peoples what want to now about history from our great president.Greatly recommented
We planned a visit with friends and had a 3:00 PM time slot. What a wonderful journey we had through this beautiful and tasteful Library and Museum. The Oval Office is an exact replica to scale! I felt like I should have been doing a briefing sitting on the couch! LOL. Very interactive! Very educational! Insightful! We plan to return, as there was too much to see and take in on one visit. Do not pass this up regardless of your politics.
I like to visit presidential centres when I am in the States, visited all in Texas: Lyndon Johnson, George Bush and George W Bush. This one very well done, informative
