We were a bit nervous about the crowds but it works like a well oiled machine. We opted for valet parking and it was worth the cost. The theatre is beautiful. The seats are comfortable and the acoustics excellent. From the time the show ended until we arrived back at our hotel was only 10 minutes. I was amazed how quickly we got our car and were on our way. We'll be returning!
We just saw Book of Mormon here and it was hilarious and great! It was a little raunchy/dirty as you would expect from South Park creators but what a fun and entertaining show. The venue is beautiful inside, the seats are very comfortable and it looked like they were all pretty good. We were in orchestra row M seat 19/20 and they were great. Also if you park in the Meyerson Symphony parking garage you can walk underneath to the winspear thru the garage and after the show it's very easy to get out and not have to deal with everyone that parked right under the winspear since they are all in the AT&T performing arts center.
We returned to the Winspear this season for a few shows. It is an amazing venue in a beautiful facility with EXCELLENT acoustics. We can not speak for the upper portion of this venue as we sit front and center so no issues with obstructed views. Valet if you can otherwise the parking is good, not too far of a walk, the staff is always friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that there are long lines for everything from drinks to the bathroom. You best get out of your seat fast to not stand in line the entire intermission. If in Dallas or a local this is a sure bet good choice.
pick an event....and just come here. It's in itself a piece of art. Acoustically superior to most anything, and simply beautiful. Plan to get tickets, shows sell fast and sadly the secondary sellers....are allowed to get too many good seats it seems. Parking is excellent and the valet is worth it and efficient. I can't wait to come back for anything.
We saw the Book of Mormon, which was a fantastic production. Our seats were on the 6th floor in the Grand Tier, $163 per ticket, and not worth it. There was railing directly in front of me and I had to sit on the edge of my seat and peer over to see the musical, which was uncomfortable. Also, we couldn't hear well up there which was disappointing. They would do well installing projection screens, for guests in the nose bleed sectionas the stage is so far away.
My seat was in the mezzanine and we booked late so our tickets were not together. Fortunately we were able to trade seats... only my view was obstructed by a horizontal safety bar so I was constantly moving up to see over the bar or slouching to see under the bar... after intermission we found a couple of nearby unoccupied seats. Either my hearing is severely impaired or the sound was muffled but I missed half of the lines, but I haven't had problems in other theaters. The theater is beautiful and I like the design of the building.
Located in the heart of the Dallas Arts District, this theater offers its patrons a night they won't soon forget! The parking is easily accessible, and with guides to help direct traffic, the Winspear is easy to enter, and even easier to exit. Once inside, you met with an incredible site. The venue itself is elegant and refined. There are volunteers stationed every few feet to assist, field questions, or serve you. There are drinks and light meals available before the performance, and if you sit in a box, additional cocktail, wine and beverage services during intermission. HINT: If you want some of the best seats in the house, spend the extra money to sit in BOX I, seats 1-2. It is worth every penny! For a night out on the town, this was one of the best I've experienced in Dallas.
What a pleasure it was to see a show at this venue. In fact it was such a great experience I keep looking for shows to go see just to revisit. The staff was incredibly polite, helpful, friendly, and professional. They made the experience five stars.
The Night: NYE. The Show: The Blue Man Group. The Venue: Absolutely phenomenal! This opera house is probably one of the best I've been to. The seats were comfortable, and the acoustics were awesome! The retracting chandelier was positively beautiful, and was unlike anything that I have ever seen. We sat in Row K, seats 1 & 2. The reason I chose these seats was because it was right by the door, and they were aisle seats which meant that once the show started, my boyfriend could kick back and stretch out his legs a little without worrying about always having to get up to allow people to get by. The drink prices is pretty much what I expected at a venue like this - 8.00-9.00 per drink. The whole building is absolutely stunning and in my opinion, very well designed. We didn't dare drive here on New Years Eve, so I can't say anything about the parking, however I do know that there is a DART station just a block away. We will definitely be going back again whenever another show that tickles our fancy is playing here!
Amazing place to visit. Parking is a breeze. Great setup for claiming your vehicle in Valet after your event. The only disappointment was not being able to see the top portion of the screen on stage from our seats in the Dress Circle. One would think that performers would be warned to move the screens down somewhat so that the entire audience can get the benefit of enjoying what is on the screen. Acoustics are amazing and the retracting chandelier at the beginning of the event was a great touch.
We've now seen two shows here. (Blue Man on New Years Day, and Jersey Boys last season.) The shows have been amazing. No doubt. The venue is beautiful, well designed, and the staff has always been helpful and courteous. If you're sitting in the higher rows there can be occasional trouble seeing the very back of the stage, but we haven't had any real issues. I will say that the drinks/food/merchandise is always expensive, but I wouldn't say its worse than any other concert hall.
Saw blue man group on new years, was very fun. Be sure to dress nice and no photos allowed. Plan to come back soon!
We usually buy floor seats but last night we sat in the Grand Tier and discovered part of the stage is blocked by lights. During two acts, we could only see the actors' feet! From now on we won't buy tickets up there.
This being my first visit to the Winspear for a musical, I was surprised by the contemporary architecture on the exterior and atrium. The interior is structured like a traditional round opera house, but rather than the ornate 1920's style you would expect to see, the fabrics and materials are very current incorporating warm woods and soothing colors. They have arranged the seats so you always have a clear view of the stage--no craning around the tall guy in front of you. Just beautiful!
My wife and I visited the opera house to watch The Nutcracker. My wife is a fan of ballet and wanted to go for her birthday. I myself have never been or ever really cared to go but made the sacrifice to make the wife happy. I surprisingly had a very good time. As we entered the building we noticed a bar therefore decided to have a few beers before the show. The bartender advised us that we could prepay for drinks during the intermission and she would have them ready for us. This was a very good idea because the line is extremely long and slow.We were able to walk up to the side bar grab our drinks, drink one down and bring another into the theater to drink as we watched the rest of the show. The show and the background were very good. Gained lots of points with the wife. I would definitely go back.
