The Grace Museum is the jewel of Abilene's historic downtown and an attraction well worth experiencing. The Grace is recognized and respected throughout Texas for its collections and exhibitions. The museum goes far beyond blue bonnets and cowboys by exhibiting works from Texas artists that are important regionally and nationally - showing how Texas complements the national art scene. The staff are fantastic and the influence the institution has on children, students, and adults in the region are immeasurable.
This is a must see and do activity in Abilene. Always entertaining and educational. Themes change form time to time which makes always fun to revisit. Be sure and check the kids floor plenty of fun educating things for them to explore.
The Thursday night programming is varied and interesting. We often choose to attend the sessions at the Grace and have dinner afterwards. Makes for a fun evening.
It was a nice place to visit and see inside the old building. The children's area was really nice. We didn't have children with us but we played with some of the things anyway.
We came here specifically for the children's area.. It was fun, but took about 30 minutes to go through.. Not too much for displays, but we did enjoy the tornado simulator.. I would not visit again..
Nice little museum, especially if you are a fan of American Western art. I feel like their website is misleading – for example, it says that they have Andy Warhol and Ansel Adams pieces in their permanent collection, but neither were on display when we visited. I asked the woman at the front desk and her response was that those were part of a previous exhibition and in fact not a part of their permanent collection like their website says. They need to fix this. Had we known this information, we would not have visited and paid the $12. There is no need to misrepresent the museum and trick people into paying to see items that aren't there.
We were there for a wedding. The bridal party facilities aren't great, but the wedding and reception areas are nice.
I enjoy visiting The Grace several times a year. There's always some artwork that makes me stop and stare for a while. The exhibits on the history of Abilene are also very nice.
they get some really interesting exhibits especially considering the size of Abilene. really enjoyed the childrens area
We frequently visit The Grace. Their changing exhibits are nice. The staff is very friendly and the children's area upstairs is fun, even for adults!
We stayed one night at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Abilene, and fortunately we arrived early enough to take some time to explore the town. We found ourselves at the Grace Art Museum at 102 Cypress Street and discovered an artistic jewel. The displays were chosen and arranged for optimal synergy and the lighting was perfect. This museum is housed in what was the Grace Hotel, which has been restored to its former glory. Congratulations to Abilene for supporting this wonderful facility.
