miner's delight

We arrived when nothing was open, but there was a self-walking tour of this odd town. Part of it is new houses and new blood to the town and the center is the historic park and a real ghost town appearance. Use your imagination to think how bustling it must have been 100 years ago in it's heyday!

If you are interested in history or early gold mining in the West, then it's worth the trip to Miner's Delight park. You need to have a good map to make sure you can find your way there and out of the parklands. The paths are neat into and around the old gold mining community. There are lots of old structures that have been slightly repaired, but mostly left in the condition they were in when they were abandonded. There are some signs and plaques that are worth reading. It is not very handicapped friendly, but the walk isn't hard. Keep in mind the time of year (don't go in winter as the roads can get bad quickly) and make sure you have plenty of gas, water, etc. in case of problems as cell phones don't always work.
