The course is owned and managed through the University at some level. This results is fairly good green maintenance. Fairly expensive though compared to city courses elsewhere - They have the market cornered here. It's not the most exciting course and probably easy for some but it is well taken care of considering the area. Hard to find a beer truck but the clubhouse has a nice little cooler you can take out if you buy before hand. It is crowded often, probably because of the short season, which makes it a little hectic when you're waiting on people or people are waiting on you but it is supposed to be a leisure sport, right?
Just finished competing in this year,s Mid-Am. The course was in great condition, with the greens running fast and true. As always, the WSGA ran the tournament well, making sure the players were safe on day one, while still getting all rounds complete.
I just recently graduate from the University of Wyoming, and played this course for 4 years in a row, and have seen it from its worst, to now... I would like to think that this course has some very good attributes and it pretty challenging. The greens have never been very quality, but they are beginning to get slick and that is nice. Playing the blacks is the best way to go!
If you want an easy, simple course to play every day then Jacoby Golf Course is the answer. If you want a challenging course with memorable holes then you should look elsewhere. While it is the home of the University of Wyoming's Men's and Women's Golf teams, the course offers very little challenge with the exception of water on #2, depending on the hole location. I expected a lot more for an intercollegiate athletic facility so yes I thought the quality of the course was disappointing. The course was in decent shape for some continuing improvements and the fairways and greens were good. The Snowy Range Mountains do provide a small amount of scenery but nothing on the course is memorable enough to make me want to play it again.
