This exhibit is completely worth stopping for. There is no required charge, however they ask for a donation to cover the cost of guidebook printing. The exhibits are well documented and extensive. You will also see the college buildings and admire the stunning views from the campus. There is well priced food and beverage available in the college cafe.
Very nice museum, a lot of History ! and a great campus visit first-hand experience, great food and great location.
The museum provides examples of the prehistoric history of Western Wyoming. The exhibits are very interesting for the whole family.
Very nice informative brochure to direct around the campus. But times that building is open is not very traveler friendly especially in the summer when it is closed on Friday and weekends.
Nothing outstanding here; mainly deals with very local events, such as an old timer's club. Ho-hum! Not worth the time to stop
I hope the students who attend this community college appreciate their good fortune - at least in terms of physical plant; I know nothing about the quality of the education offered. The main campus building seamlessly integrates a natural-history museum into its interior spaces, with an emphasis on paleontology. One large fossil perches just outside the student store (where I happily purchased both a school sweatshirt and a high-quality solid model of a tyrannosaurus rex). Speaking of T-rex, a full fossil skeleton of one, beautifully articulated, roars in endless silence in an alcove of the cafeteria, with a glass-wall backdrop that outlines the king of reptiles against stunning views of the Wyoming landscape. With many of the displayed fossils having been found in Wyoming, it's fitting that T-Rex now stands again before the hills where once his kind roamed ages ago.
This is a self-guided tour with replicas of dinosaur skelatons throughout the main part of the campus. It also has a fossil display. Very intersting and well worth stopping by to check it out if you are into this. AND, it is free! What a beautiful college campus!
Our family of 4 stopped in Rock Springs, WY for an evening stay. After dinner we decided to follow the signs to the Dinosaur Exhibit. The exhibit was housed throughout a Union type building on Western Wyoming's Community College campus. The had some serious dinosaur skeletons and other fossil displays. It was quite impressive, especially for a free walk around exhibit.According the pamphlet we picked up (and my wife thoroughly read), there are only 11 full T-Rex skeletons ever found and there was one here (probably a casting, but it was still cool). The other dinosaur skeletons seemed to be all from finds in WY.It was a great way to spend an evening
Neat setting and very large dinosaur skeleton display. Many other displays as well about the city and its history.
excellant museum-loved all the dinosaurs and indian relics. they had a nice bookstore to buy souvenirs for the grkids
Leuke tentoonstelling en nog gratis ook!Zeker even de moeite nemen om te bezoeken.Ook het gedeelte over de dieren is interessant maar het leukste waren de dino's.
