we passed through the Teton Park several times this past week on our way to Snowmobile, and dogsled trips in Yellowstone and Towaghtee Forest . This is one of the most amazing mountain ranges in this country. We have also, visited Jackson Lake several times on our summer visits. This a great are for families to visit also, so many things to see and do. We will also visit the museum in the small town of Moose on our next visit. Just found out about it today on Trip Advisor !
Our party stopped by this center before our appointment for the Snake River float trip. Definitely should have allotted more time to see all the very unique exhibits. Plan for more than an hour, particularly if you like to read all the descriptions and take time to view each exhibit. This is a wonderful way to learn about Wyoming history.
We've taken our children here twice, and they really like this museum and the Junior Ranger program here. Just outside the large picture windows is an outdoor patio that has a very unique interactive display illustrating the various peaks at which you are looking. You'll need to study the ground to see it, ironically. :)Accessibility: Yes, the museum is accessible.
This is a beautiful visitor's center, with lots of exhibits and helpful rangers. My daughter loved the pelts of different animals that you could feel and the statues of those animals. There is a giant picture window that frames the mountains beautifully. The bathrooms were very clean and there was a nice gift shop. Because we were pressed for time, we only spent about 30 minutes here, and weren't able to see any of the films. However, if we're ever back in the area we will certainly plan for more time so we can see more of what they have to offer.
I have visited many of our Nation's National Parks. To this day Grand Teton is my number one must see place to experience. The Craig Thomas Discovery Center is the proverbial icing on the cake to understanding the Grand Teton's rich history, and future. I was especially enamored with the visual displays, both static, and dynamic. The bronze works are truly spectacular. So lifelike in detail, expecting them to move from their frozen state and become alive. Telling their story of who they are, the hardships they endured, and the monumental achievements they've accomplished. The structure itself arcitecuralally speaks of the forces needed to create such a beautiful environment. There are few places I have been, that have inspired me to appreciate where I stood as much as The Grand Teton's. The Craig Thomas Discovery Center brings all of the sights and sounds of the Park together, to tell a story quite profound and spectacular. I will return and bring friends, to share in what I have discovered to be, a very special place on earth.
great views, lovely new architecture and a good educational video on the teton mountains,. worth the stop scenic route trip
We stopped at this center as we left the 42 mile Loop. The center is well done with interesting displays and insightful history of the area. There are many interactive displays which will also invite children to learn and explore. Take the extra time to watch the informational video presentation, too.
Be sure to stop at this visitor's center. Very well done building and view of the mountains with informative descriptions. Be sure to see the film.
The Craig Thomas Discovery & Visitor Center is at the southern entrance to Grand Teton National Park, just west of the main highway from Jackson. The attractive, new building has a large relief map of the park, exhibits about various aspects of the park, and a nice theater where a 24-minute movie orients visitors to the park. Friendly park rangers man the visitor center presenting programs and answering questions. Plan to visit this center early in your visit to the park.
This is a great place to ask questions, watch movies about Grand Teton National Park, pick up the very informative park newspaper, visit the gift and book shop, get a weather forecast, learn from the exhibits, join in on a ranger talk, and use the free wi-fi. The design, materials, and siting of the beautiful building, which opened in 2007, are worth looking at in themselves.
this was my favorite, great exhibits and helpful information. All the visitor centers were great. This 1 is right before you enter the park from Jackson Hole. There is also a nice 1 in Jackson Hole that has information on the Tetons and Yellowstone.
Not only are the Grand Tetons breath-takingly beautiful but the visitor center was one of the best we'd been at. So educational and the people were so informative and patient in answering questions. Well done! Congrats to our government for doing something right!
We stopped here on our 42 mile scenic bus tour on our 3rd day visiting Grand Teton. Wished we had stopped in or knew about it earlier in our trip. A beautiful, well done facility, lots of education displays, and many educational programs provided by the park ranger staff.
We had just finished a week long wilderness horsepack trip and stopped at this location for a map to mark our route. The Visitor Center looks brand new. Regular parking is located separate from the Center requiring a short walk which I thought was great. The place is full of exhibits and the park staff on duty were very helpful and informative. They directed me right to the map I needed.
