OK - I'll say more. The person who said it was an ordinary gas station stop and shop apparently didn't stop or shop. In addition to the great little cafe, it has a nice selection of unique and handmade gifts, decent selection of wines and beer, good produce, a surprisingly large inventory of organic food items, and everything you could want for fishing in the area. I don't know where the writer was from, but for me, Bode's is unique.

I loved Bode's. Granted it has no apparent competition out there in Abiquiu, NM but it is funky with a genuine old time atmosphere. When I was there the restaurant area of about six tables was all dolled up for a special dinner night out for the locals. The gift shop was fun, with a mix of local sweet and local tacky items. Pure fun to be had at Bode's.

This store is really just a basic gas station quickie mart...but happens to be the only thing around. I am suspicious of these ratings -- don't think anyone would give this place a positive rating. Stop here if you need gas or a candy bar, but otherwise this is not of any interest whatsoever.

This place is just great; always new stock, new and unique gifts. Local crafts and potions as well as wonderful textiles. I always check in when I visit.

There's something for everyone including lunch, fishing & camping supplies, great wine, art work & more.

In Abiquiu inside Bode's is cute gift shop called Girasol - bit of everything from local items to fair trade goods and affordable. Don't see these things in other shops ended up doing my Christmas shopping on Palm Sunday! The man behind the counter knew so much about local area and suggested the best place for a picnic. Stop in - not much to see in Abiquiu and Girasol made it worthwhile.

We stayed 1 week at a riverfront casito along the Chama River and ate at Bode's twice so far (following recommendations found here). After making my silk scarf purchase, I spoke with the clerk/cashier and he was very friendly helpful. He informed me the O'Keefe tours stop around Thanksgiving but he told me where the O'Keefe has was in the Abiquiu square/village and some other info about the home. Also confirmed the slowness of Cafe Abiquiu at the Inn, a definite no-no with a 3, 5, and 7 yr old boy...! We will try to stop at the Gift Shop there just to look around today.Very beautiful and peaceful place to vist, never been to this area of the country. A stop to Bode's and Girasol a must on your trip thru Abiquiu.4 stars given only because they didn't have any other Christmas ornaments but fishing ones! I wanted an ornament from here since we stayed 12/26-1/2.
