Had the opportunity to taste all the wines the other day for the first time in a couple years, and, WOW!, they still blow my mind with the complexities and unique tastes. Each wine with its own character. Cabernet Sav still my favorite!

Just came across this place going from Santa Fe to Las Vegas. Well worth the stop. A very pleasant young lady assisted us in choosing the Riconada red and it was an excellent choice. I believe she said this was one of the earliest wineries in New Mexico.

Off the beaten path, easy to miss but nice place. We stopped in, did a quick tasting, bought the Embudo Red. Fella was sort of aloof, but that is fairly typical of NM peeps. Worth it if you are in the area.

For those who haven't enough time to stop enroute to Taos or who take a route that bypasses Dixon, the winery offers a tasting room in Taos (103 Bent Street). The array of wines is the same and they are enjoyable. A tasting is relatively inexpensive and a fun way to spend a half hour or so.

Winery location was not very attractive compared to other similar wineries but the young girl serving us was very friendly and made our visit very nice. This was the only winery that offered us free tastings and we ended up buying a delicious Dolcetto that I can't wait to open up for a special dinner.

This is our fourth or fifth time to La Chiripada. Love the wines, especially the whites. The special reserve Riesling is tremendous. Always a friendly tasting session. I heartily recommend La Chiripada to anyone. We take someone new there every year - never heard anyone say anything but good things. Enjoy!

The wine was excellent. We kept to reds.and were very pleased with the tasting. We purchased a few bottles...some to enjoy during the Taos trip and others to take home. The tasting room manager was very friendly. We will return. They ship...so buy!!!

It's worth finding and driving to, hidden in the beautiful canyons of Northern New Mexico. The wine maker opened the tasting room for our group of six (he was officially closed, making a New Year's Eve dinner for a friend...but forgot to change the "open" sign). That fact made it welcoming. The winemaker is knowledgeable, good wines, and even though we were somewhat rushed, he took his time to let us sample. We bought 3 bottles (speaks for the quality of the place and wine), enjoyed the brief moment, and let him get back to his dinner and we to our Taos destination.

We really like taking an afternoon to visit La Chirapada. The winery and tasting room is a very cool, old adobe compound with a very unpretentious and approachable tasting room. The tastings are free and the wine is spectacular! Certainly will continue to visit this great winery!

I have come to this winery for 2005. Always getting some fine wines here to take home to Oklahoma.Service and people are always awesome.

One of our favorite places in the whole Santa Fe area. Wonderful wine made by a local family for some 30 or 40 years. The walls are decorated with the owner's art and the wine tasting was super tasty and fun!

found La Chiripada on a road trip 20 years ago and re-discovered it again this weekend. The wines are award winners and worth the side trip on the way to Taos or Santa Fe. And talk about location, location, location...Dixon is a hidden treasure.

I read the review citing "rude behavior" and wondered who that writer encountered at La Chiripada. My wife and I love the wine this little place creates, order it through the mail, and always pay a visit when traveling in New Mexico. We've always been treated like "regulars", and this time spent some time talking with the owner about life in Dixon and that part of New Mexico. We returned home with two cases of La Chiripada wine in the trunk: Canoncita Red, Rio Embudo Red, and a couple of their whites. Delicious.

We stopped at this winery while on a trip to New Mexico in December 2012. It had been written up in a guidebook and we were enthusiastic about visiting. I’m sorry to say that, much to our surprise and disgust, we encountered rude, unprofessional behavior (after we had made a purchase). We later had confirmation from other people we met in the wine industry that this behavior was typical of the gentleman we encountered, and that the winery probably doesn’t care what customers think of them.We certainly wouldn’t go back there. There are too many other good and welcoming wineries in the state where you can spend your money. It’s a shame that some people may have a bad experience here and decide never to go to another winery. This was our vacation, and we were in that zone of being enchanted with New Mexico and being open to new encounters and experiences. Our visit to La Chiripada certainly threw cold water on our day.
