I stay at Riverbend Hot Springs because of the outdoor tubs, nice rooms, and incredible grounds of Riverbend. Such a great experience and I always meet such interesting people.
Stopped by on a whim; rented one of the private outdoor spa overlooking the mountains and the Rio Grande. Loved it! So relaxing. Will return!
Riverbend Hot Springs was recommended to us by a local because it is possible to use the springs for $10 an hour if you are not actually staying at the inn. The springs are nestled on the river and face the mountains, making it a very pretty spot to have a hot soak on a cold day. The building itself is very pretty as well, and obviously well maintained. There is a nice, clean changing room, and shower facilities, as well as the option for using a public or private spring. The facility also has a very nice sauna. What made the experience not so nice was the strict insistence on maintaining a "whisper zone" within the springs. We chose the public spring, and soon found ourselves speaking quietly with another couple who were in the spring with us. We were definitely not being loud and disruptive, but the people actually staying at the inn, as well as the staff zealously shooshed us twice. There seemed to be a palpable animosity emanating from the people staying at the inn directed at people like us who had just come in for a soak. A pair of women who were in the pool before we arrived tried to enforce the 3 person limit when my husband and arrived and were among the many "shooshers".We were told that Riverbend had recently gone upscale and my impression was that in so doing they had tried to model themselves on something you might find in Sedona, AZ but had missed the mark. What they ended up with was a very lovely spot fraught with tension arising when walk-ins showed up and crowded the overnight lodgers who were obviously paying a premium for access to the springs.
This was the first time ever to go here. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There is a nice changing area. We chose a private tub and it was fantastic and very relaxing. We chose the Tierra pool with a soothing waterfall - which was great for the neck & shoulders. As we were relaxing you could watch the fish jump out of the river down below as well as birds enjoying a dip in the river!!!
This is probably the prettiest place is Southern New Mexico. (My boyfriend and I are strongly considering getting our future wedding photos here.) Those hot mineral springs are something special, and they really don't charge guests that much to enjoy them. What I would recommend for the perfect day possible, is to float the Rio Grande River on a inner tube, and then go relax at this place.
Best place to soak in T or C, mostly because you can soak outdoors and have a view. The place is kept neat and tidy, and the staff are very friendly.
[This review is about the public tubs at Riverbend.]I received a complimentary soak from my stay at Rocket Inn, and chose to go to Riverbend. It's the only hot springs in town with a view of the Rio Grande (that I know about), and the environment is lovely. Tubs flow from about 106 degrees to 101, and you can move about as it suits you. There is also a small sauna on the grounds, and water is available for purchase. You can rent a towel, or bring your own.
This is the only place where you can soak along the Rio Grande River in Truth or Consequences. It is well kept and clean. Be sure not to soak while they are using the noisy cleaning machines.
Beautiful location that is private, well maintained and managed. Staff believed in honoring whisper zone which is crucial to the hot springs experience.
The place gets better and better. I love the location on the river. They have a private tub along the river, which is always reserved it seems. They fill up quickly on weekends and holidays.
The comparison to Tassajara is more in the feel of the place than the physical property. The staff are extremely accommodating and the riverside location of the pools allows for wonderful bird watching. We opted for the least expensive room, which was small but adequate and spotlessly clean. We may upgrade the room next visit. The pool areas, both public and private were exceptionally clean and well laid out. Temperatures of the pools had a nice graduated intensity. Highly recommended for an open air soak!
This place has really upgraded it's rooms and pools over the years, including a major overhaul last year (when it was closed for a while) We did NOT stay there, but enjoyed our tour and seeing the tubs and the river!
I'm from Albuquerque and needed a getaway but only had one day. A traditional day at the spa with a massage seemed mundane, I wanted a little adventure. I always wanted to try a natural mineral spa. Riverbend Hot Springs' website seemed very inviting. A girlfriend decided to join me. When we arrived we couldn't believe the oasis before our eyes. I had prebooked a private pool for us. I have a hard time with extreme temperature so I chose the Tierra pool at a temperature on 103 degrees on our visit. It was heaven. Our pool also had a waterfall which seemed to give us even more privacy. It was a beautiful sunny winter day in the high thirties. The public pools looked just as inviting but I booked the private pool to ensure I could have a pool with a milder temperature. To soak in such a beautiful and tranquil environment was just the getaway I needed. The Tierra pool fits up to four people but was still perfect for my girlfriend and I. A bathing suit is required but I also packed my own towel and robe, along with my flip-flops. I was warm enough when I got out I did not need my robe or flip-flops. I just toweled off and dressed. Treat yourself, don't miss Riverbend Hot Springs of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico.
We rented the Rio since our hosts at Rocket Inn told us it was the hottest and that's what we like. Its a private outside pool where you can shed your clothes, sit perched above the river (not the most beautiful river but hey!) and enjoy the sunshine and hot springs. How can you go wrong? We recommend it!!
My wife and I truly enjoy the laid back atmosphere and new age/native American decor to the grounds. The rooms are clean, comfortable and conveniently located within steps of the outdoor hot springs. Relaxing in one of the pools at night under the crystal clear sky with all the stars above is a wonderful experience. On each of our visits, the staff have been outgoing, attentive, and helpful. Highly recommended.
