Gambeling isn't my thing, so this didn't last very long. I preffer the old machines, atleast you could sit and play for a little while before it ate all your money. I didn't win big but it was fun. The new digital, your done in 5 min. They did give you little bonuses for signing up to get a member card, the staff were very nice. It was also very crowded almost to the point of not enough machines, my boyfriend was also disappointed the blackjack was digital.
While we were staying in El Paso, Texas we had to gamble the night away! I will say that thank goodness for the non-smoking section because the smoking section made it hard for me to breathe which usually isn't an issue for me. We were to late for the horse races but had fun anyway and of course won some $$!
I love casinos but this casino doesn't have many penny slot machine with minimum of one coin. Most slot machines have a minimum of 20 cents per turn.
On a Saturday night the casino is too crowded, couldn't find a machine to play. There are no dice tables.
A small casino with all the games you want or enjoy playing when in the gambling mood. Smoking is allowed in the Casino and is a bit overwhelming when sitting next to someone who is smoking, but the casino ventilation cleans the air so you can get clean air at times. If you enjoy gambling this is a pretty nice place to do it. Very nice building and kept clean.
Visiting a combo racetrack casino is way different than visiting a Las Vegas casino, so understanding the differences can help make the trip more fun. First and foremost there are NO table games, unless you count the Electronic video blackjack. Secondly the slots are older and pay out less often. The other differences include a smoker filled floor where you will come out smelling like cigarette, and no alcohol allowed in the casino. A short hop from El Paso, Texas this is the closest legal casino that pays money on a win. Penny slots are hogged by local women who beat up the touch sensitive screens to stop the spins. Don't be surprised with the punishment doled the machines. Again this isn't Vegas. So expect your machine to have a hiccup or two, go with it and hope a tech comes to fix. If you enjoy an hour or two of play then go. I would suggest you buy your food in the track side, don't waste money at the awful restaurant. My favorite item is the wings, about $9 but cooked well and you get enough for 2. Valet parking is the way to go here. Enjoy yourself but don't expect Vegas. It's far from that, but still worth the trip.
Just a few miles north of El Paso, Sunland Park Racetrack offers live horse racing on Tuesday, Friday. Saturday, and Sunday from mid-December through mid-April, when the mild desert winters offer perfect weather. Simulcast racing is offered year-round. There are several free seating areas, from grandstand benches to plush chairs and tables. Down a short staircase and you can step outside and right down to the rail for an up-close look at the horses flying by (highly recommended, at least for one race!). For a fee you can sit at at table in the Member's Club, where each table has its own tv to watch races nationwide. Snack bar food is available, and it's pretty good. You can purchase beer and mixed drinks in the racing building, but no alcohol is sold or can be consumed in the casino, which is attached to one end. The building is a smoking facility, although the casino does offer a non-smoking section. The race card is usually 10-12 races, with the first half of the races being quarter horses, and the last being thoroughbreds. Even if you have never been to a horserace, betting is easy, and cheap. The minimum is only two dollars and other patrons are usually happy to explain the betting process to you. Although I wouldn't recommend taking small children, many people do, and there are no restrictions except for the casino.GO! And have a great time. BONUS: There is an amusement park right across the street that is a lot of fun also.
