If you enjoy the opera ths the place to spend a splendid summer evening. Start time is determined by sunset so plan on a late evening. Open air but protected from rain, the sound quality is wonderful. For anyone wishing a special evening this the place for family and friends

I love that the SF Opera not only attracts A-list opera talent, but also that it is presented in the open air in the last summer evenings. I have attended one or two operas every season for the last 20 years.

We attend two or three operas per season and always love the SF Opera House environment. I will warn tho to seriously consider whether to attend one of the "firsts" as we have not always enjoyed them, prefer the classics. The facility is wonderful, especially at sunset as you get to enjoy the hills and the setting sun.

Our second visit for concert. Too loud, but we had fun anyway. We enjoy the indoor/outdoor aspect of the Opera, and the views at sunset are spectacular. A real New Mexico icon. We'll be back.

This is a place worth visiting, if you're from out of town, regardless of whether you're a super fan of whatever music is being performed. The combination of listening to high quality opera while watching the sun set is unbeatable. And there are great little translation boxes on the back of the seat in front of you, making opera easier to engage with no matter your background, age, experience.

The Santa Fe Opera can provide the music experience of a lifetime. The venue itself is an open air theater with sheltered balconies in the back and a few covered rows in front of the stage. It is a magnificent piece of soaring modern architecture and a lovely place to experience splendid productions of opera. It actually has views of distant mountains through the stage and in both directions to its sides. The productions are lavish and often modern with many great performers exhibiting their skills, some just before they're snapped up by the Metropolitan Opera in New York I've noticed. The outdoor feature is unique, but also means it gets very cold during many performances. Attendees come prepared for serious cold and rain and, when the heavens open up, the ponchos come out and virtually no one leaves. I once watched a performance of The Flying Dutchman there with an especially convincing storm scene --the staged lightning bolts and rain made even more convincing by the melodramatic real lightning and downpour lighting up the sky through the rear of the stage and twenty miles to the West in Los Alamos as well. It's a grand place to see a live opera and visitors should check the schedule and get tickets in advance since it often sells out due to the high caliber of its performances. An early dinner at SantaCafe or other fine restaurant and an evening at the opera always make for a memorable summer night.

One of the great opera houses in the world, a must see when in Santa Fe. Make sure you bring a jacket, nights get really chilly in the desert.

Living in Santa Fe, New Mexico, it's magic to be able to enjoy the Santa Fe Summer Opera from end of June to third week in August where you will enjoy world famous Operas being performed as well as enjoy world class Opera Singers.

I have visited this venue several times and am always impressed. It is a beautiful indoor/outdoor venue with professional opera. The facility is well kept, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. It is a place you can visit in jeans or a tux. Great acoustics, not a bad seat in the house. Attend a lecture prior to the opera. Some are free! You can also tailgate before the opera in the parking lot. Bring your own good, or order a box lunch/dinner and pick it up there.

Lovely setting which becomes part of the production Get there early for dinner with director and learn about the opera you will see.

Went to the opera 6 times, don't miss the apprentice show case on the last two Sundays of the season. It is also interesting to go for one of the buffet dinners and hear the speaker before the opera.

This is a wonderful venue that is one of the best in seeing a concert of our World Class Operas. You can see the beautiful mountains, and has this great zen like feeling while watching the event. It's truly beautiful..

A very special place summers in Santa Fe. Opera lovers often book into town for a week or so timed to include the season's offerings. The schedule is set so singers stay in town for the entire season enabling audiences to see the entire repertory in one week as it rotates throughout the summer! The structure of the building is open to the stars but covered enough to protect the audience from the elements; although summer in Santa Fe is usually warm, evenings can be chilly and showers a surprise! The building is set so the patio faces west offering the gorgeous sunsets that Santa Fe is famous for. Two restaurants on site or set up your own tailgate picnic in the parking lot. Tailgate parties are very popular; from picnics to table cloths and crystal!!! Go early and attend the free lecture prior to the evening performance, giving an added insight to the opera...all this with World Class Opera Singers, great sets and music and an unforgettable experience!

This opera house is so unique, set in the hills outside Santa Fe. One opera we attended was backlit by distant lightening (nothing dangerous here though!) The operas are always of the highest quality and the prices are reasonable.

There is no place in New Mexico like the Opera. Beautiful setting and wonderful opera and music. Always a great night.
