I have been going to this DN park for many years and with different teams, each and every time is so obvious that they never have a diamond jacks tea lacking pitchers!!!!!, why can they compete like a regular team does?Stop pretending that there is no favoritism, it's getting old and licking interest on your visiting teams!Empires are always some how with the DJ calls! To ask that you pay $5 for every game is abusive add their fees are high anyway.
Beautiful baseball complex for you to enjoy watching your sons and daughters. Their entrance fee was half of what we usually pay for in Florida or Georgia. Their concession stand serves delicious hotdogs. Perhaps any hotdog tastes good when you are in a ball park. A little bit of maintained, fixing their seats, cleaning up trash would push up the rating of this complex to excellent.
One of the most important part of watching your kids play the national pastime is having someone control the game and command respect. Over the years, I've found that the umpire can really contribute to the excitement of the game: fair calls, commanding the field, controlling the parents and setting the bar high for safety. Teach the boys fair play. This weekend, we didn't see much of this. Poor control of the game, lousy pitch calls, but most importantly, my son was hurt with blatantly intentional roughness on a final slide home. He was tagged IN THE FACE unnecessarily and as he lay on the ground motionless, the parents on the other side cheered. The umpire did NOTHING and walked away, didn't even stop to see if my son was OK. Didn't quiet the crowd. Nothing. Fortunately, my son only had a cut lip and we were able to help him off the field. This umpire was derelict in his responsibilities. I'm not saying that he should have called my son safe (no, we wouldn't have won the game if he did), but, he should have controlled the situation and set an example. Everyone gets an ump that is subpar, but keeping the game safe CAN'T be less than a high standard for your ballplayers. In addition, the turf at the Jack Cust field hasn't been maintained and is disrupted and curling up at the outfield/infield border and is a risk for your player tripping. The netting protecting the spectatrors is NOT taught and safe. One parent had a foul ball hit him in the face and break his glasses while watching BEHIND the safety netting. I agree that the pitching mounds are also subpar. The benches in the main building are broken (near the batting cages) and there are VERY sharp edges that can cut you as you watch your kids warm up (blue metal benches). As for the additional $5 fee for daily entry, u gotta eat it: they charge this at Baseball Heaven too.
You pay to walk in the door Every day!!!! The facility charges every team to play then they charge you every day you come in the door, for what, to buy at their gift shop??! To buy their food??! To watch your kid play ball???? RIP OFF!!!!!!!!
The facility is wonderful. The umpires were good overall. The admission price of $5.00 per day per adult was ridiculous they should have 5.00 for weekend. Food cost was high. My son had the chicken finger basket and the chicken fingers were big and meaty the fries were over cooked and horrible. It is very hot especially the infield as they have the dugouts and the bleachers beside each other by home plate which allows no air flow. Would be better to move bleachers to other side of dugouts down by the bases at an angle. We sat out in the dugout for the softball field which is the outfield. Good view and a breeze. Overall the boys enjoyed their experience.
Here's a thought: either keep the $5 per person per day entry fee OR the no outside food or drink policy....having both in place is overkill especially when you charge $2.50 for a bottle of water and $3 for a cup of 10oz of ice with 4oz of soda. AND the umpires are allowed to have a pinch in the cheek and spit during entire game....might as well allow them to smoke. Really hope I don't have to come back here. There are much better venues in the mid-Atlantic region for my $.
Fields are small with portable fences at less than 200'. Every ball goes through the gaps in the fences for a ground rule double. Portable mounds that move on every pitch, bases just thrown down on the field. Might as well play in your backyard. No coolers or food can be brought in but when you play at the Jack Crust Academy they don't sell any drinks. Make sure you bring cash, no ATM or credit cards accepted. Don't bother going.
I read the reviews on here and was worried about our weekend tournament. However, we had no problems at all. Our kids, a 12u group, very much enjoyed playing. There was nice seating for the parents, the umpires did a good job, and the turf fields were very nice for the kids. Sure, the snack stand was not cheap and you could not bring in food, but you could simply go back out to your car to eat a snack or for lunch if you wanted to save money. Plus, there were plenty of places to eat within 1 or 2 miles as well. Very nice experience for our son.
Just visited Diamond Nation for son's baseball tournament. The fields are turf (sneaks or turf shoes only) and the complex is clean and the parking is free, and that's about the only positive thing I can say about this tournament complex. For the coaches out there, look elsewhere for good competition and umpires! The organization as a whole seems under qualified to run a successful tournament, we were there for 3 days, had to pay $5 pp at the door each day, young teenage girls seem to be the only employees working, management was non existent. Snack stand prices were outrageous ($4.00 for a hotdog, $3.00 for a gatorade, $7.00 for 6 small chicken nuggets). Coaches, listen up, the quality of umps are just terrible, VERY inconsistent and unknowledgeable. They really did a poor job on most of the teams, many coaches were very unhappy with the skill level of the umps. These kids are playing their hearts out here (I'll get to that in a minute), and the umpires didn't do the game or the players justice of a fair fight. Now it wasn't just your everyday disgruntled parents and coaches of a losing team becoming upset at the umps. I'm talking game after game, controversy after controversy, 8U-13U across the board, there were a lot of unhappy coaches and teams. I wouldn't waste your teams hard earned money on this place, they are generating $ hand over fist here, they had so many teams scheduled ($950 a team, probably made $300,000 on this weekend alone just on the teams, without the $5pp charge) that on Sunday, the top seeded teams had to play 3+ games, before a championship game at 8;30pm. These players are young, sore and exhausted after 3 days of this nonsense only to have the umps call another terrible game. Believe me they will and you will leave there shaking your head in disbelief!
I could not agree more with the 3 other reviews. This place is way too expensive and frankly not worth it. If you are looking for a first class baseball tournament - go to Ripken instead. First off here are the positives of this facility: turf fields, decent competition, and reasonably clean. Negatives: Charge $5 per adult to watch your kid play. Fields are nothing special - bases not properly anchored, turf baselines- no grass or dirt, portable mounds, and they take large fields and divide them into makeshift smaller fields by creating a metal fence in the outfield - the fence is lousy - blows over from wind or if kids run into it. Umpires were unprofessional- several questionable calls and inconsistent strike zone in our games. "Preferred" hotels that they force you to stay at are expensive and most are about a 25 minute drive -Nothing is close to this place! Scheduling is terrible - we had over 24 hours in between our game times. They take too many teams and don't have enough fields so the game times are spread out and they start at 8am and go as late as 8:30 pm start times. Championship games are frequently scheduled for 6:30pm or later which is ridiculous for kids who have to travel hours home on school nights. Do not be fooled by the reasonable entry fee of $850 - they will end up making $1400+ on your team after adding the admission charges of $5pp (2 parents x 2 x $5 x 12 players = $240 and getting the 10% commission ( $129/nt x 10% commission x 2 nts x 12 players = $300+ in hotel commissions from hotels that they force you to stay at. And they do not allow you to take in food - and drinks so they will get you with that expense on top of the rest of the fees! This facility is a money making machine. It is not worth the fees that they charge. There are lots if other more affordable tournament facilities out their - skip this place if you can.
While out kids had a great tourney and had fun, my wallet is hurting! The tournament fee is reasonable but be prepared to pay for everything and anything else. I am surprised they didn't make us pay for parking! The facility has is turf fields but the score board on our field was broken, the link to watch the games didn't work and the portable mound had to be moved. We should have known it was portable mound but not even our coaches were told. Our umpires were young college age kids who were intimated by the taunts and question of others crazy parents on opposing teams. I saw them in a another game besides our too. Bathroom were ok.However, you have to pay $5 per day to watch your kid play baseball - anyone over 18 has to pay. You can't bring any outside food or even a cooler for water. The snack stand is over priced - Cooperstown Dream Park and the LLWS are much less expensive and they do no charge anything for entry to the games. Sodas were all fountain sodas no lids given and the cost was $2.25. There are lots of option but you will pay extra for anything like butter, cream cheese and the Philadelphia Pretzel Company pretzels sold for $2.00.
This was a nice baseball park, but very expensive. It cost $5 a person 18 and over to get in to watch your child play per day! We went to the little league world series and didn't have to pay to get in there, so why should I have to pay $5 just to watch my son play BASEBALL!!!! You can't even bring in outside food or drink and have to pay their outrageous prices. It was $2.25 for a bottle of soda from a vending machine. This isn't Yankee Stadium, I shouldn't have to pay those prices to watch my 11-year-old play baseball. I didn't even think the fields were that special. The score board was broke on the field we played on the second day and it is ALL artificial turf, even the base paths. My son's team all said they liked playing on grass better.
This is a baseball facility that hosts tournaments for youth baseball, outdoors in the summer, indoors under a bubble in the winter. The facility itself has turf fields with good drainage and is generally neat and clean, indoors and out. It is also smoke free. Now the other side: they charge you $5 each every day to watch your kid play ball. You are not permitted to bring in a cooler, and, to add insult to injury, they charge $2.50 for the small Gatorades. If you want butter (not cream cheese) on your bagel, that butter will cost you an extra dollar. The umpires are the pits. Inconsistent strike zones would be the nicest way to describe it. Also, a lack of knowledge of such basics as how to handle a catcher blocking the base path without the ball in hand. I would not recommend going there unless your kid's team is playing there.
