The staff here enjoy what they do, and they are knowledgeable about the wines they pour. The grounds are beautiful, and they frequently have live music here. But a winery lives and dies by the quality of its wine, and Sharrott is doing just fine there. Special favorites of ours are the Cab Franc, with notes of cherry and a whiff of violet; the Dry Riesling, which for the money is as good as anything I've tasted out of the Pacific NW; and the Wicked, their version of a port-style wine made with Chambourcin.
The tastings were good and not tiny. We could keep the glass. The property is pretty. Horses just next door. Friendly.
We recently visited 3 of the area wineries one Sunday afternoon, and of the 3 we visited, we enjoyed the wines at Sharrott Winery more than the other two. We had no idea they even existed, so perhaps they should advertise a little better. Wine tasting was $8 and included tasting 6 of their available selections, and including a stemmed wine glass. We particularly enjoyed their Crimson Sky - a sweeter wine, but not too sweet.Relatively small facility - retail store and tasting room all together. Cheese/cracker platter was available for a fee, featuring four different cheeses available. I thought the various prices for the cheese platters were reasonable for the sizable wedge they give you.I will definitely going back to make many purchases, particularly since they are only about 30 minutes away.
Sharrott Winery hosted a music fest last week. The event was held outside on their lawn area with 8 local wineries set up under tents for tastings. Over 80 wines to sample. Go it on a Groupon for 15 bucks for 2 people. We had a great time. I would definitely go again. I didn't get to see or tour the actual winery, but they did have a tent set up so I got to try their wines. The only cons.... they don't mention on their website or even Groupons website that there is no actual seating. You have to being your own chairs or blankets (which we had neither) and the website mentioned that there would be "food trucks" there to purchase food... there was one food tent set up. No options and expensive ($9 for ONE small chicken kabob and a handful of curly fries) . I would go again, but I would come prepared with a cooler with food and some chairs and blankets.
This winery has a great wine called Tango. It's a nice place to do a tasting and they have special events all the time. My girlfriends and I go to this place often and sit outside listen to the music and share a bottle of wine.
We visited this Winery while on a wine tasting getaway weekend. We found the staff to be very friendly and knowledgable about the wines produced. They are very proud of the medals their wines have brought home from competitions. They offer a nice variety to sample and choose from.We found a coupon offer with a buy one get one wine tasting free, which is always nice. Their wines range in price from $13.99 up to $24.99. We enjoyed the Crimson Sky which may turn into a nice Sangria sometime this summer and the pungent nutmeg finish in the Winter Spice, which will keep until the next holiday season.
I like to visit this winery most. The owners Larry and Eileen are both very friendly and all of their staff takes the time to really walk you through your tasting. Their events are always great, their wines are all top notch award winning wines. They have plenty to choose from for both dry and sweet drinkers. They charge $5 for 6 tastings. They have something going on all of the time. When the weather is nice I highly suggest making a day of it and heading over with a picnic, on the weekends they always have live music and it's always top notch entertainment, even if it isn't necessarily what I would normally listen to. They sell pre-made cheese plates, but I recommend you bring your own snacks if you'd like variety, as they usually only have 3 or 4 to chose from.
Small local winery with an excellent staff. Went with a groupon for $2.50 per person. We had so much fun! The staff was welcoming and fun. They were genuinely happy to interact with us. Harris did our tasting but the entire staff awesome. Great sweet wines!, highly recommend crimson sky.
Who new a Jersey Winery about 1/4 mile from my house in Winslow Township could make such great wines. Family favorite is un-oaked Chardonnay. The fruity blueberry wine is consistent with the neighborhood, near Hammonton. Worth a stop about 1/2 mile from Atlantic City Expressway exit for Blue Anchor/Ancora in Winslow Township (exit 33). The tasting and the opportunity to buy some prize wines is worth the time.
The grounds were beautiful and there was live music today for the wine trail holiday weekend. The wine tasting was pricey compared to other local wineries. The wine servers did not go out of their way to be friendly to our party, nor did they take any time to explain each of the wines we tasted. It was the bare minimum wine tasting if you ask me. The lack of conversation really set the tone and was disappointing.
The folks at the tasting room are superior in their knowledge and make the tasting very informative and fun. Their wines are excellent and it is always an enjoyable experience.
I go here a lot with my wife. We absolutely love it here. The atmosphere is relaxing, they have live music under the tents, wine and cheeses, wine tastings, beautiful view. It is a definite cultural experience where you can wind down. As far as smoking, there is a place to smoke, fornutaley or unafortunately; whatever way u choose to view it; smokers are kept apart from non smokers. As a non-smoker I appreciate this.
One doesn't often hear New Jersey and winery in the same sentence, but Sharrott Winery proves the two work wonders together. I wasn't sure what to expect and I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived with a group of friends to share an evening of wine and music. The bring your own food aspect is great on keeping cost low and picky eaters happy. We sat outside of the tent and had a lovely view of the vineyard. I didn't do a tasting and let a friend who was familiar with the wines do the picking. I liked her picks and each of the three wines we bought were around $15-20 a bottle. Well worth the price considering we did not buy food. I believe there is at least a cheese plate that can be purchased at the winery but as we had so many snacks I didn't really look at the food options. Be sure to stop inside for a look at the wine operation and history of this relatively new winery. Not to be missed are the great shirts on sale...my favorite being a rhinestone one that said, "drink 'til he's cute"
This winery is such a gem! Please don't keep this place a secret any longer. The wines are some of the best I have tasted in our NJ wine tasting travels. The wines are delicious and reasonable priced. The staff is very knowledgeable. I think they need some more marketing to get the word out!
Sharrott Winery is one of the prettiest venues I've seen in NJ. Sitting outside under the tent, drinking a bottle of Chardonnay, and listening to live music is a great way to spend an afternoon or evening. It is a very laid back atmosphere. The employees are so nice and friendly. Actually, all the people we meet there are friendly.
