joey g's grill & bar

I used to go to Joey G's once a week for their hamburgers and the company. Bartenders were great and they really paid attention to details in preparation of their food.It is now under new management: BigHeads. I've tried it for a while. New staff members that are still friendly. But I've lost my one burger place. Last visit was the last straw for me when they brought out brown, re-fried 2-day old onion rings.

Food, ambiance and service is nothing special. Stupid name too. Sure with Famous Dave's never left. :(

Not sure how this non-existent restaurant ranks #2 in Hillsborough. It was here briefly but no longer exists.

We were very sad to see Famous Dave's Restaurant at this location close. But we wanted to give the new place Joey G's, a fair try. The service was terrible. The food was worse. How can a burger place completely RUIN the burger. The requested medium cheese burger came very well done, dry, tasteless. Fries were not good. We didn't bother sending anything back. We were disgusted and just wanted to get out of there. Lesson learned. There were only a few tables filled and it was after lunch time so they should not have been busy in the kitchen. The cook should have had plenty of time to watch a burger on the grill. The food took a long time for a near empty restaurant for simple burger entrees. I wish them luck but they might just go the way of the dinosaur (or, Dave's) if they don't up their game. It'd be nice to have a decent grill in the area. We're rooting for them, but we won't be back til word of mouth opinions improve.
