There was a time when Old Lafayette Village was a great spot. Many an afternoon was spent wandering the paths, grabbing ice cream with my kids, feeding the ducks - and doing a little shopping. This days are long, long gone. Not sure why, but this place has been on a steady decline for years and it's all but shuttered completely. Bankrupt and without a plan at the moment to survive. The Lafayette House (restaurant located in the Village) is still open - and quite good - but the overall village is a mess. Unkept with few stores still open for business. There is really no reason for this type of place to fail in this area - hoping for a revitalization.Sad, sad, sad...

This unique mall type village has gone bankrupt, however the Lafayette House (restaurant located in the Village) is a separate entity and remains open; The food and service are both high caliber...

We have been going to the village for years but just like many other places around the country it has fallen on hard times. Many businesses are closed and much of the village is run down. I am hoping that some investors will come on and do a revamp of this dusty gem.The best and strongest part of this village is the layfayette house restaurant with its attached marquis tavern. I just gave this business a phenomenal review in its own post on trip advisor. It is the anchor business in that complex but it is around the side/back and hard to see amongst the other struggling or empty storefronts. Make it a point to visit the restaurant and try to shop some of the remaining stores in the village if you have the chance. It would be a shame to see the whole thing collapse

Quaint location, loads of antiques ! Lots to look at. Something for everyone. Little pricy. I wasn't able to buy much but enjoyed looking. Allow lots of time. Antiques sprawled out over a few buildings. A few shops on the Main Street I did not have time to check out.

Olde Lafayette Village used to be a quaint shopping village with seasonal events around a duck pond. Now most shops are closed & even the ducks have left. Do dine at the Lafayette House which still serves deliciosj food and a great Sunday Brunch.

the only thing worth stopping for is the Bass Outlet. The Village itself is rundown, shabby, and dirty.

So sad, so many empty buildings. What was once a bustling outdoor mall is now almost empty. There is a small bistro, one of the few remaining small business remaining, that is excellent However, I don't recall the name. I wouldn't return as there is nothing much there.

We stopped here after a day of good stops at Sussex County Fairgrounds for Honey and Garlic Festival and at the Lafayette Mill Antiques Mall (both great). The little antique shop that was here at the Olde Village is now closed. The place is very run down even more so than the last time we stopped 1-2 years ago. The rest room is quite awful and in a dimly lit alcove. I almost didn't go in because of the poor lighting and the place needs a good cleaning. Did get a cup of decent tea at a pastry shop and we ducked our heads in Bass and Van Husen. The outlet stores themselves are like at any other outlet but this place is in a sad state overall.
