I visited Peoples during a recent trip to NJ. After enjoying a decent browsing experience I decided to purchase 14 pieces of glassware. There were heavy and too many to carry to our car in one trip so my husband went to get the car. The salespeople told me I had to wait outside. It was 35 degrees and raining. She actually carried my paper! bags of heavy glassware and set them outside in the rain, on the wet sidewalk. I asked her if I could wait inside while my husband got the car. She said no the store was closing. I said, can I wait until you actually leave the store so I don't have to stand out in the cold rain as long and she said no. Then I stood outside while my husband walked a few blocks to get the car while they actually walked around in the store with me standing outside. I say, with the many other antiques stores in this area, give your money to the dealers who treat their customers with decency.
I was in town visiting a dear friend who thought it was a must see for my taste. When I walked in I was blown away. There were so many pieces of furniture, clothes and keepsakes just to name a few to choose from. Jim Miller gave me an excellent deal and I plan on returning in the fall. Thanks for the coats Jim!
Very large antique center, however it is a high end antique center. If you are on the hunt for primitives or smalls you will not find it here. The pieces in this shop have come from all over the world are "statement makers." Sculptures, art and furniture is plentiful. Very organized and the shop keepers were friendly.
One of the places we visited in Lambertville yesterday was The People's Store Antiques and Design Center, a great destination not only because they have 3 floors chock full of wonderful antiques, but also because the building is architecturally appealing. Heck, the whole town is appealing! Lambertville and the shops were not very crowded on a Friday morning, but I can imagine it would be hectic over a weekend since this is a very nice place to visit for couples, young families and friends. Lots to do, great restaurants, and everything in walking distance - a walk across the bridge over the Delaware brings you right into New Hope, PA. But, getting back to The People's Store: we were drawn by the variety of antiques (an incredible collection of cufflinks) that included home furnishings as well as collectibles, sterling silver, jewelry, clothing, children's toys. All in all, a great place to mosey around in. And, best of all? Although not an antique dealer, I felt welcome to browse - and found a great silver baby cup!
This is a very nice antiques center in down town Lambertville with 40 dealers selling a wide variety of antiques, collectables, furniture, paintings, vintage clothing, Silver, etc. The center is open daily from 10am to 6pm.
