We love this park. Huge, quite and close. So convenient. There are a few parks around Fort Lee, NJ area and this is one of the best.Me and my 4yr old daughter usually do bicycle riding at this park since it has huge circle road it doesn't go anywhere. There are also tennis, basketball court and baseball fields.Children's playground is small compare to New overpeck park cross the street. We are lucky to have these 2 parks.
The best park i have been so far, great playground, everything is new, worth going there, always great activity for every age, could not be better
This is a great park to go for a walk by the river. It has mile marks so you can judge how much exercise you do. There are also areas for sports and a great play area for kids. It's a new park so everything is in great condition. They also hold fairs and such but that can mess up the traffic as there's only one way in and out.
I used to walk her daily when I lived in Leonia. I enjoyed the fairs that they used to have here too! I also got a enjoy some of the New Overpeck Park before moving. The fairs and events are even larger than before and it's so close the Hackensack River that if you are a water lover it's the best. You can kayak, catch and release fish, and more. There are bike lanes and basketball courts for those who like to engage in team sports. The New Overpeck Park has lights for night time games as well. I miss this park. it was the best thing around.
Overpeck County Park is a pleasing treasure for the eyes. There are many activities there to occupy your time - from strolls or bike rides along the Hackensack River to various sports activities. There is much to see in the way of plant life and the occasional turtle or two that is wandering about. I've lived near it for many years and have not visited til now.
great place for a nice walk or run. Great for families. Very scenic and clean. It is also very very safe.
Large park for everyone to enjoy, young and old alike, summer or winter. Take a walk or come to play a game, it's all there waiting for you.
Great, new, creative and large playground for all ages! Highly recommend!!! Plenty of parking!!! Also, the area and view are beautiful!!!
Sweet , beautiful, and calm place to be when one has time. Spend time with your friends, family, or loved ones in peace and not too far from NYC too. Has tennis courts, kids playground, benches, and green grass for a relaxing game of kickball or soccer. Calm and peaceful Hackensack river flowing in the background, perfect for fishing I must say. This place is HUGE !I came for the American Breast Cancer Walk and found the place welcoming to thousands and thousands of people in October 2013. The event was a success !
A great local Park to take a stroll and catch up with friends and get some fresh air and exercise at the same time.
We take our American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Jackie here to the "big dog " run and she has a great time chasing her friends.
Overpeck County Park has recently been spruced up (especially in the southern side of Leonia and the Teaneck/Ridgefield Park side) and it is a wonderful destination if you live in the local area (and even if you have to travel a bit to get here!)It is very easy to get to off of north/east bound Route 80/95 (local lanes), exit 70A and take the exit road to Fort Lee Road to the entrance to the park; from the GWB, take Route 46 west, exit at first exit, the Fort Lee Road/Leonia exit, take Fort Lee Road down the hill until you come to the entrance to the park. Mass transit makes it easy to get here too; NJT Bus 182 from the GWBBS leaves you at the park entrance and Rockland Coaches from PABT run regularly to the corner of Fort Lee Road and Grand Avenue where you can walk 2 blocks to the entrance (buses run less frequently on holidays and weekends). NJT Bus 166 runs along Broad in Leonia and you can easily walk down the hill from the corner of Broad and Fort Lee Road. The north side of the park in Leonia has a dog run, the World Trade Center Memorial, tennis courts, running/jogging/biking trails and lots of parking. This past weekend, it was the site of the Leonia Sports Boosters Carnival and there were fireworks on July 4th.The south side in Leonia has horse back riding (Bergen County residents are eligible for priority/discount pricing) and jogging/running/biking trails which take you from the Leonia side into the Teaneck/Ridgefield Park side via two eco friendly bridges (seating area here to enjoy the view) spanning Lake Overpeck, a canoe/kayak launch on the Teaneck south side, along with toilet facilities. There are sports playing fields, playgrounds, and depending on the weekend, entertainment at the amphitheater. If you're at an event at the amphitheater or just walking in that area, you can see quite a bit of the midtown skyline (and the new World Trade Center) to the east. My friends and I love walking (some friends love biking and jogging) through the park; the area is well-policed; plants buffer the noise of the highways; seating areas abound. There is a golf course which is in the Teaneck area but not easily accessible from this part of the park (you need to drive to Cedar Lane in Teaneck and enter from there but reservations are needed). The only reason that I gave this a very good instead of an excellent rating is that I wish that there were better noshing options here (like Bryant Park has in midtown). I hope that this will happen in time but since this is a new park, fingers crossed!
