St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is located on South Street and Miller Rd. The Morristown Library is just across the street (Miller Rd.) from the church and across South Street is the Mayo Performing Arts Center. St. Peter’s Church and property extends from South Street down Miller Road to Maple Avenue. For GPS use "121 South Street, Morristown, NJ 07960." St. Peter’s is an architectural master piece in stone. The present church building begun in 1887 was completed over a span of 24 years in 1911. St. Peter’s church is especially noted for its magnificent stained glass windows (especially the chapel alter window of Tiffany glass) and the unbelievable sounds of the 49-bell carillon (located in church tower) and the 1930 pipe organ. In addition to the main church building are the rectory built in 1897, the parish built in 1914, and the church graveyard which dates from 1828 (the burial place of various prominent Morristown families, including inventor Alfred Vail.)St. Peter’s Episcopal Church is a work of art in progress; its parishioners, staff and clergy are the artists that really bring this building to life. Parking on church property is reserved for parishioners, staff and clergy. Please be respectful of the church and grounds when visiting.
