The view of Atlantic City was great. We had a round table by the window. The room was decorated for the season and looked festive. Loved the old floors. It gives the room character. the food was good, service a little slow. It was not very crowded so we expected faster service. Food was very good and wait staff was friendly.
We had approximately 15 people in our group to attend happy hour. They were a little overwhelmed by the amount of people. The chef actually brought out the food and they apologized for the delay which makes this a good place to go back to in the near future!
From the minute you enter the clubhouse of the Atlantic City Country Club, one of the nation's oldest, you begin to absorb the museum-like atmosphere. The Pub, which serves lunch and dinner daily, is a trove of golf history photos, articles and trophies that have been collected over the more than 100 years of operation. The food is reliably good and their happy hours during the week are an excellent value, with reduced price drinks and $5 appetizers. Whether you are a golfer or not, you can enjoy the history that surrounds you as you dine in one the multiple dining rooms that overlook the neatly manicured golf course.
The variety of choices was more than we could eat. Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. If you go, I don't believe you'll be disappointed.
Upon arrival the club drop area was easy to use and was offered free valet of the car. The pro shop staff were very friendly and I felt like I was a member. The course was one of the top five I have ever played. It was in spectacular shape and moderately difficult but really fair. Not too tight so you can spray some shots and get away with it.Tees, fairways and greens were A+. Greens were quick but rolled well. Taproom service was wonderful as was food. I found this experience (and I golfed alone) was one of the best ever.Great job everyone.......
Just love the golf course. The holes are all different with great views of Atlantic City. It is like walking into the 1920's when you arrive and the locker room is a cool place to prep for you round.
I worked as a waitress at ACCC in 1987 when it was owned by the Frasier family. At that time it was aged and worn...cockroaches in the bag of dinner rolls. After several owners since then, this was my first return. The carpet is the same, probably over 30 yrs old, and it it looks it. Shabby. Soiled. I came for the happy hour. All seats at the bar were taken were taken by patrons that I know from other local happy hours, so we sat at a table already obtained by friends who had arrived earlier. We had to flag down the waitress for service, including our order and request for clean utensils and napkin. The 1/2 lobster and 1/4 ear of corn for $5 was despicable, even considering the ridiculously cheap price. Cold, tough, about 6-7 bites of lobster. Small flying bugs swarmed our food. I thought of the cockroaches I saw when I worked there 28 yrs ago. My friends ordered food that never came and were appropriately credited.
My buddy and I are traveling the US over time playing golf in as many US States as possible. This summer trip included a stop at Atlantic City Country Club to count for New Jersey. ACCC could not have presented itself any better. The course was in immaculate shape. It is a challenging course so pick your tee wisely. But once you do just sit back and enjoy it. The views of the "mainland" are awesome! There is plenty of natural wildlife. It is a fair test of your skills. Be prepared to use every club in the bag! Not only did the golf course present itself well, so did the staff. Each person went out of their way to make us feel welcome. We played before 9AM so the green fees were $150.00. However, their fee schedule has some less expensive options. The history inside alone makes this a must see (ask about the bell!!). But anyone that enjoys golf and is anywhere near ACCC needs to play this course. You will be glad you did. BTW: My friend and I actually birdied the hole where the term "birdie" was coined.
You know you are on a piece of historic property when the entrance sign says "Established 1895" and the trolley bell in front of the clubhouse reminds everyone of a time long gone. This is an "old school" golf course that oozes charm, nostalgia, character and challenge. I played A.C.C.C. twice this past week and found the course to be a real delight, with breathtaking views and an interesting lay out. The conditions were not the best, as it was still cold out and the grass needed time to grow, but who cares ? The place was a gem.The staff was extremely helpful, the locker room and dining area were from another era and the 21st century hotels and casinos were just across the marsh - if you wanted to go there . I would just as soon stay put, ring the trolley bell and play another round....
My sister in law recently got married here. Everything was very well taken care off. I liked the environment a lot and the service is excellent!Mich
Got a great deal on a group outing to the golf course at Atlantic City Country Club. Had been there once before for a wedding reception. Yes it IS right out of Boardwalk Empire. We had a really early tee time - it was still dark when we pulled into the parking lot. I do not think they had a full crew ready at that time, so I cannot judge the breakfast setup or the employee staffing. Those that were there in the early am seemed a little backed up, particularly in the dining room, when we stopped in for sandwiches at the turn. When it appeared that things were running a little late for the "2 minute" breakfast sandwich, one of the guys said he would just run them out to us on the course. Thank you so much. He was great. ditto the cart girl. anyhow, the course itself was a little tricky for us; the scorecard did not have a map on it, and at least twice we could not find the green from the tee box. we had to look around a lot. also, the short 17th par 3 does in fact have a forward tee box that is in the weeds, and we drove right past it. I imagine the members know the course, and also there are caddies - so our party did not have those services at that early hour, with the group rate. Having said all that, the course is beautiful It has a great view of the AC skyline on many holes, and it is immaculately groomed. Many old touches, like the wooden cart paths. Watch you don't spill your coffee; it's a bumpy ride. The greens were very fast, and were a problem for me all day. They slope a lot on some holes and are also multi-levered. If you do not know the course, it is easy to find your ball run almost off the green. Beware the sand traps. Sometimes we did not realize they were there. Overall, though it you have the time, and the $, it is a beautiful golf course. And the red fox on the third hole made our day. Apparently she lives there. Not shy at all.
Fantastic golf course. Best public course in NJ. Take a caddie and walk the course. The clubhouse is like a golf museum.
Our foursome had an enjoyable golf experience at the Atlantic City Country Club. Course was in excellent condition. There's a lot of history here. Old-fashioned locker room with some special past members. Teeing off right at the putting green is quite unique. Some beautiful marsh vistas, and some very challenging holes.I played from the middle tees, which is plenty long, with several uphill carries to greens. Greens are fast, but true, and you'll meet "Foxy" the friendly red fox who must be fed regularly by the golfers here. She has no fear and will come right up to your cart for food.Greens fees are expensive, unless you book a deal with Harrah's, as it is owned by them. The Seaview Marriott Bay course is similar, but not as nice as this layout (and they host an annual LPGA event there).
Atlantic City Country Club is a lovely hidden gem. It is tucked away in Northfield NJ just off of Route 9. The club was founded in 1897 but is still very well maintained. It has a difficult slope for women at 126, but still not too difficult for me as a 20 something handicap. The views are spectacular looking east back to the Casinos. You can see them at the Marina and the boardwalk. Teeing off on the first hole is a little funky, the back tees are on the practice green. The par 3 hole #17 is ridiculous as it's totally blind and we couldn't find the forward tees for me, we had to ask a groundskeeper. I was surprised there was no ladies locker room, just a unisex powder room. I don't think ladies are all that welcome. However, they were very nice to me. Looking into the men's locker room I noticed it look just like the locker room scene in Boardwalk Empire. If you are a fan, check it out. I would definitely play there again but check all the pricing, I think we could have gotten a better deal.
This casino gives the best comps and slot dollars. The buffet is not recommended. I guess it is worth what you pay. The shrimp are great.
