The Moore Brothers have wines you absolutely will not find unless you go to the winery. They specialize in "boutique" producers from Germany, Alsace, France, Italy and CA. All good. Some you might not particularly care for, but I personally have had some bottles that just blew me away. Plenty of reasonably priced choices. Tastings on Sat and plenty of roll-outs with the winemakers touting their stuff. Don't let their over-the-top wine geekiness deter you. If you like wine and live within 50 miles you absolutely must visit; on the same level as the Reading terminal market and S. 9th St. Italian market. Iconic. Really.
A very interesting wine store with an unusual business model. This store (there are two others, one in Wilmington, Delaware and another in New York City) imports wine from small vineyards in France, Germany, and Italy. The founder was a onetime sommelier at the (now closed) Le Bec-Fin restaurant in Phila. He had a vision of founding a boutique wine store and started this with friends. The staff knows wine and, with the aid of a computer system, keeps track of patron's tastes and their recommendations. Prices range from inexpensive to ~$100+ per bottle. They have periodic wine tastings, often with the owner of the vineyard present. The stores are kept quite cool and the wine shipped at 56 degrees. Staff carry your wine from the store to your car. The staff prides themselves as acting as wine consultants. Worth a visit!
