There's nothing like living in a small town and having your own movie theater that you can walk to. The Broadway Theater, over 100 years old, is a 1000 seat, single screen with full size stage and orchestra pit and side balconies. I used to love walking uptown to watch the Saturday Matinees with my friends. Inside The Broadway, the decor takes you back to the days of Vaudeville, which is exactly what it used to be used for. There have been plenty of live, notable, big name acts on that stage. The Broadway no longer shows movies, but it does showcase stage plays and when their is a play going on, all I can say is good luck finding parking.
Friends at work told me about this local theater! I purchased tickets at the last minute- and there were not many available. My husband and I are so glad we tried this venue. Absolutely gorgeous interior and then the show was very well done. We love NY and Phila Broadway, but for the price and convenience, this is definitely worth it! We thoroughly enjoyed "Anything Goes"! I already made reservations for The 39 Steps, a Hitchcock parody. Thank you BTOP! Maybe it's time to add more evenings and shows. You are solidly booked I noticed throughout the season!! Cute town too. Next time we will come early enough to shop in the adorable shops too!
My friend and I went to the theatre to see Beatlemania.I have to rave about the theatre. It was adorable. I think another revier stated he felt like he was a muppet. He was right. The theatre was renovated. When? I don t know but, I loved it. The seating is nicer than the Academy of Music. By that I mean that it has more of a slope and you can easily see the stage. We had a perfect view. The theatre is not huge so it was wonderful. I saw Mowtown in New York and I forget the theatre. But, I think it was smaller. The young men doing the show were delightful. I supported their cause by purchasing a long sleeve t shirt.I will go again. They have children s theatre on Saturdays and want to take my grand children. We ate at Clancy s in Sewell which friend chose. My dinner was excellent.
We have been season ticket holders for all seasons they have been open and find the shows better and better....great value for the money and great talent on stage!
the town of Pitman and Broadway itself are a fun place to visit before and after the theater. The restaurant, while most could be better and a few have closed, are just wonderful to visit before a show. The productions themselves are all and all good. Saw Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The main actor gave an incredible performance.
We have had season passes for years now and it is a great place to see a show at a reasonable price. The actor/actresses are very good with great voices. The only down side is it could use a little more renovations. It is clean but some seats are a little uncomfortable. The paint on the ceiling is chipping in spots which takes away from the overall experience. But the shows themselves are very well done and all seats give a good view of the stage.
We saw Jekyll & Hyde, the musical, and it was a very good production. Also saw A Chorus Line about a month ago, and it was outstanding. Kudos to the Broadway theatre for lovingly restoring this priceless theatre and bringing live theatre to the area. Our only suggestion for improvement is the sound system, which was over amplified for the Jekyll & Hyde play, so much so that it frequently detracted from the fine voices and antics of the players. If a sound engineer could modulate the voices of the "miked" players it would be perfection. Also appreciated the level of detail in the Jekyll & Hyde program, which is very welcome.Thank you for the attractive variety of high-quality, professional entertainment that the Broadway Theatre is bringing to South Jersey.
The theater is a beautiful one and there are many great shows there. This one included The Bronx Wanderers, Emil Stucchio and The Classics and Bobby Rydell. Music by the Coda Band.Great concert.
Bobby Rydell show was great. The other acts, the Bronx Wanderers and the Classics, were also terrific.
Wife & I have seen two oldies shows here and have tickets for another one in October. Neighborhood is very clean & very safe. Decent restaurants within walking distance as well as free parking. A beautiful night out for couples. This is an old theater so, no elevators nor escalators but plenty of first floor seating. Still has the concession stand with the smell of popcorn in the lobby. They're prices are reasonable compared to "modern" theaters, prices are about 1/2 for snacks. About the only negative thing I could say is that the theater ceiling was leaking during one of the shows with heavy rains outside. No, not a lot of leaking but both wife and I saw droplets falling. The oldies shows have been really good. Now when a song comes on the radio I think about the theater and the group. I would love to go to a show every month if they had them.We have paid twice the price for shows in Philly plus toll plus parking but as long as Pitman Theater keeps the oldies playing at these prices and Pitman keeps the area clean & safe, we'll keep our money in NJ
Went to see Devotedly, Sincerely Yours at the theatre. Great theatre, good play. Hope to visit there and see another play.
Always like shows here at the Broadway. It's a smaller placethat thrives for quality productions, of which I am greatlyappreciative... The acts are usually good though someresearch should be done on a production ahead of timeif you're sensitive to language or sexual issues commonlyaccepted in todays society... Always a lovely evening...
Teh Broadway Theatre has been renovated and is now the centerpiece of a thriving downtown area in PItman, NJ. It has an annual schedule of stage shows - usually well done - and individual attractions of varing kinds and subject matters. The theatre is well maintained; the pricing is moderate; the staff is hard-working and helpful; and the value is good. I would recommend a visit to a show, with dinner in downtown Pitman beforehand.
Good to see that Main Street Americana theaters are still around. Enjoyed Dennis and Judi with Steve Trevelese and Uncle Floyd Vivino!
Took kids to see play. They loved it reasonably priced. Will return soon. Have a great selection of plays all year
