This beautiful mansion was built in the mid 1700s and was owned by three different men before becoming the official residence of the New Jersey governor. The second owner, Moses Taylor Pyne, added most of the additions that make up most of the home as it stands today. He was a beloved Princeton President for many years, and his granddaughter eventually sold off most of the land the mansion sits on. Tours of the mansion are only on Wednesdays by appointment. We were there in March, but we were told December or spring when the gardens are in bloom are the best times to visit. The NJ governor doesn't actually here, but there are many official state functions here, and the governor shows up occasionally with his family and always for the annual Easter egg hunt. Very interesting historical tour.
