It made for a wonderful post-lunch lover's stroll on a beautiful afternoon in Princeton. Check out the John Coffee tombstone!
Many famous people buried in Princeton cemetery. Easy walk one block off ofNassau street . Guide and map at entrance to cemetry
The most beautiful, quiet, strange, makeout spot in town -- sex and death arousing passion. An easy walk from campus.
Several Princeton University presidents are buried here, most notably the famous 18th c. minister and president Jonathan Edwards. Aaron Burr, who killed Alexander Hamilton in a duel, also is buried here (Edwards was his grandfather), and so is U.S. President Grover Cleveland. You can pick up a map at the entrance to the cemetery. Don't miss the 20th c. tombstone that announces: "I told you I was sick".
Many historic figures here, including Aaron Burr Senior. and Junior and Grover Cleveland. Open entrance provides self-guided tour sheets, and guided tours are offered on special occasions. A nice fall afternoon walk for the history oriented.
If you are a history buff and like visiting cemeteries, this is a great stop. A few famous people are buried there, but it is always interesting to see what stories emerge from the family plots and the markers. The library gave us a map and a good explanation of some of the notable names in the cemetery. Stop by and see Aaron Burr and Jonathan Edwards--who knew they were related?
This cemetery has over 25,000 graves and some pretty famous dead people as well as lots and lots of people you've never heard of. It dates from the 1700's to modern times and you'll recognize a bunch of last names linked to the area. If you have time to kill and want to get off the beaten path, wander around a bit. It's a good way to spend a half hour or so.
I travel the country visiting sites related to U.S. Presidents, so I stopped at Princeton Cemetery to see the burial site of Grover Cleveland. Princeton Cemetery is also the burial site of a U.S. Vice-President - Aaron Burr, who's father and grandfather were both presidents of Princeton University.
I can't believe I'm rating a cemetery, but I noticed this on Tripadvisor and had to add my thoughts. I've walked through this cemetery before and remember it well. If you are not from the Princeton-area and visiting the town, you should see this. It is right next to the center of town and there are maps near the gate to help you in your walk through history. Buried here is Jonathon Edwards, the Puritan preacher and author of "Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God." Scant feet from Edwards rests his grandson Aaron Burr, Jefferson's first vice president and the man who shot Alexander Hamilton. Elsewhere, Grover Cleveland is buried along with his wife and daughter (the famous "Baby Ruth"). If you are visiting Princeton, take a few minutes and visit this historic treasure. It's also free!
If you are in Princeton take the time to visit this cemetery. It houses graves of several very famous people. There is a nice map available in the parking area. This is important because many of the headstones are very worn.
В общем, может русскому человеку не очень понятно кладбище как достопримечательность, но это в америке нормально. Ходят мамы с детьми рассматривают могильные плиты, кто.. что... и я там был... Есть интересные надгробия.. .в целом тяжело дать оценку :)
