My wife and I, our daughter, and my mom decided to visit Tomahawk Lake Water Park today. We had won admission, and water park bracelets in a church silent auction several months ago and almost forgot that these tickets expire after Labor Day! Whew! Having lived in Morris County NJ for over 10 years, we've never heard, or had visited this park previously. I read some of the 'negative' reviews on TripAdvisor, and was starting to dread having won these tickets! What a surprise to see that the trip here was the complete opposite of what I was expecting. I remember going to camp in Pennsylvania over 30-years ago, and this reminded me of those wonderful times. This place was very clean and orderly, but still had an 'old-time' charm from the 50's & 60's. The lake was clean and clear, and the water was very warm. You can definitely bring your own food, and grill or purchase onsite food. They even allow you to BYOB, or you can purchase beer or mixed drink at the onsite bar. A can of domestic beer costs $3.00. Not bad. The water slides aren’t the biggest or scariest, but they’re fun, well constructed, and virtually no lines today - come here during the week and avoid the weekend crowds! Virtually all of the employees were polite, and friendly. Only 1 of the younger kids didn't want to talk to anyone!I read the following paragraph from an earlier reviewer - "...I’m saddened by all these whiny reviews by smug morons with no appreciation of the outdoors or a business’s character. Look, if you hate nature then you shouldn’t come to a LAKE in the WOODS. And if you don’t like mediocre snack bar food, bring your own damn cooler....the only “disgusting” thing I’ve encountered here has been some of the other visitors..." Couldn't agree more. ..." Had a wonderful time, and will definitely be coming back. I think if you can get here during the week, you'll have a great time at Tomahawk Lake Water Park!

We came to Tomahawk Lake Waterpark on a camp trip. I had kids ages 1,3,7 they had a very nice time. It's a lake so it's not what I would say it's clean but not dirty either. The food was really bad so make sure you bring your own! All in all it was fun for the girls and that's all that matters!

If you grew up in suburban Jersey, you too may have a soft spot for this summertime gem, which has been beautifully maintained yet minimally changed over its 62-year lifespan thus far. Nestled in the pretty wooded hills of Sparta, this place has a nice little white sand beach, a clean lake with a wide shallow section that warms up in the sun, diving dock, cute life guards, a snack bar, tons of space for picnicking or BBQ’ing, bumper boats, paddle boats, mini golf, ping pong, horseshoes, arcade games, sand volley ball, and the loveliest li'l BEER GARDEN. The water slides aren’t the biggest or scariest, but they’re fun, well constructed, and the lines move fast. I’m saddened by all these whiny reviews by smug morons with no appreciation of the outdoors or a business’s character. Look, if you hate nature then you shouldn’t come to a LAKE in the WOODS. And if you don’t like mediocre snack bar food, bring your own damn cooler. I’ve always had a wonderful, laid-back time at Tomahawk Lake. The only “disgusting” thing I’ve encountered here has been some of the other visitors; eg. foul-mouthed hood rats with their swim trunks drooped halfway down their rears. But so it goes. How much: Adult admission is $13, and bracelets for unlimited water slides is an extra $15. (CHEAP compared to Action Park’s $40 admission & mile-long lines.) Beer is like $3/mug, their mixed drinks are potent, & BYOB is allowed, too. Mucho recomendó for 21+ aged friends for a day of fun in the sun with exercise, libations and relaxation in a pretty park setting.

Their were way too many bugs!!! People said the water was slimy and all icky on the bottom and also they did not provide life jackets and some people had trouble swimming in the lake becaus of the depth of it. No one got to enjoy the attractions they had (the water slides) because they were all rusty and brown and the water looked like someone peed in it. I met mark.. What a nice fellow. One of my co-workers in Frank enterprises saw 4 alligators and there was no pretty site I would not recommend tomahawk to any one!! My name is Frank and I like cheese(Www. Frankie likes cheese . Enterprises. Org CO.)

We held our family reunion here and the service was terrible. The co-owner Mark was the most rude person I have ever encountered in an establishment. The park staff was disorganized and not friendly. The co-owner came and ate our food that we paid for and....if you can believe....stuck his dirty fingers in our food. He was disrespectful and I would never recommend this place to anyone!

Dirty, Stinky, untrained staff and horrible managers. leeches in the water, snapping turtles on beach and shoreline water, security is a joke, rowedy people, alcohol everywhere, not family friendly. not even worth going to this place, i know people who went there and have gotten infections from the park. The health department and the state needs to make this place better it shut it down. ALSO there is a 25 not to do list when you enter the lake, so you cant even bring a radio to the beach.

I don't know which is worse, the unsanitary cooking facilities or restroom facilities?!!! This place is being run by a fool patrolling in a golf cart who is more concerned on barking orders, than providing a clean safe environment for families. This park is a disgrace. If you dare go, be sure to bring your own food, plenty of hand stanitizer and a prearranged trip to a disease specialist afterwards. Vernon has Action Park, which at least follows health and safety regulations and is strictly monitored. If you care about your families.....DO NOT venture here!

I was not sure how I would like the park after reading the reviews but three of us had a good time! I would suggest going during the week if you don't like crowds and bring your own food and water, the food line was long! We did the three water rides early and did not have to wait for long. The children swimming in the lake really seemed to have a good time and there did seem to lbe many activities available for an extra price. We are used to the lake scene, and the bathrooms were ones we were used to.

"Okay" experience but great value! The area though is unsanitary. The bathrooms aren't clean and the property is old. There isn't real sand on the beach just some sharp stuff. Since we went on weekdays and it was raining in the morning there weren't a lot of people. The staff was friendly but the soft serve ice-cream was EXTREMELY creamy! The food was really good for the value. Enjoyed it a lot! Couldn't go to the water park, but the lake itself was really clean and nice to swim in! Overall, really good for the price. Would give a perfect score, if it was more sanitary.

I wanted to go on a reasonably priced day trip in Northern New Jersey and I thought this would be a good trip, I was wrong. There are LOTS of rules, two pages of rules that you are given as soon as you enter. Most of the rules are straight forward and reasonable, but they are rule happy. Everything at the lake is additional. The miniature golf course is very BORING, many of the slides need to be replaced as they seem very worn and old. The boat rentals were reasonably priced. The bathrooms need to be updated. I ate at the cafe and the food was reasonably priced, but nothing wonderful.

At first glance the park looks nice, beautiful lake, sandy beach, but as you go through, you realize it is in disrepair! My son was excited about outdoor ping pong tables...forget it, they were warped and rotted and totally unusable! The mini-golf was terrible and unkept! Signs were rotted, and the bathrooms were gross! The picnic areas are all jam packed with the spanish music blasting and the smokey grills all way too close to the pathways. You must pass through them in order to get to the water slides, theres no avoiding them. If you are an average american family planning on picnicing there, forget it, you will not fit in!! English is definitely a second language on the weekends, and the place is LOUD, not a relaxing day at all if thats what you are looking for. Its expensive and they make you park right on the next guys bumper! I wouldnt go back, just wasnt a good place for a family to enjoy the day.

During a recent spontaneous picnic to Tomahawk Lake Water Park, my friends and I enjoyed many of the amenities the water park offered. Although we adored beauty of the lake, the staff was not the friendliest and there were fees for everything. The designated picnic areas were cleaned but the parking attendant instructs everyone to park extremely close to each other. It was difficult to really enjoy the water slides, and the swimming area. The employees were always there enforcing the rules in a very unpleasant tone. Overall, we made the most of the day but questioned whether we'll return.

The park was inherited by three siblings who never get along and scream and curse through the employees walkie-talkies. They are cheap and abuse their power to create an unpleasant stay for the families visiting. The parking attendants make you park too close to other cars. If you arrive late and own a semi-large car they will have you park farther than any other car in the lots. Its grass parking on all but one of the parking lots and full of uneven terrain. If you come at the wrong time you might end up being parked on an annoying hill. The parking is NOT free because they have you pay for each person in the car before you park which includes the use of the beach and grounds, not the waterslides, golf, or boats. The staff is unhappy and are forced to apply all of the park's many rules including the one where you can not be with your child in one certain area of the lake, no matter how old they are. No excuses. Later on in the day they take the parking attendants away from the parking lots and give them life guarding positions that apparently "aren't considered life guarding positions." Don't believe the "crystal clear" lake water because you can feel the algae and grime on you after you get out of the mucky liquid. The slides haven't changed in decades and look like they're held up by duck tape. The boats smell like urine and the ores are falling apart on each on. The golf course is never cleaned and shouldn't be used. The area is infested with bees and a mixture of latino music is heard wherever you walk. The bathrooms are out-dated and never cleaned or fixed. The stall doors barely lock if they even do and the sinks are weak. The ground is flooded with liquid so I wouldn't suggest going in without shoes or sandals. I will never take my kids here again and wont let anyone I know go there for their own sake. Don't waste your money, drive the extra 30 - 45 minutes and go to either Camel Beach Water Park or Mountain Creek have a much better time. You won't get your moneys worth and you will waste a day of you go to Tomahawk Lake "Water Park."

We decided to do something different this year for 4th of July....worst $60.00 I ever spent....never again will we visit this attraction. They allow visitors to bring in grills, food and liquior which is fine if it was well managed. Every Lake that I have visited has a designated area to grill this place was free for all where ever you found a spot a grill was placed which to me is a fire hazard. They even had people picnicing where the minature golf was on th course so if anyone wanted to play minature golf they were out of luck. They should not allow alchohol to be brought in..it created the wrong clientel. The views are beautiful but overall this place needs updating especially the bathrooms it was just disgusting...we had to put tiolet paper up our noses in order to be able to use the facilities without throwing up and they were disgusting I don't anyone has cleaned those bathrooms in years. There was one instance where the lifeguard was speaking to teens to stop hanging on the floating deck and they turned around got on top of the floating deck and threw the life guard into the water...at this point this is when I told my husband lets get out of here before a riot breaks out. The way this place is set up and poorly managed attracts the wrong clientel. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It's a shame because this place does have beautiful views my suggestion raise the price to all inclusive price for water rides as well as paddle boats, ect. (which currently is $15.00 to get in and then everything else is extra) and use the money to fix up place and it will definitely generate a more respectful crowd.
