nutty over sweets

I expected to see a large variety of 'penny' candy. They had your basic. Nothing worth stopping for. Cashier was just there.

A Sparta downtown quaint old timey candy store which carries all your retro and modern candy needs. Plenty of choices by the pound. nuts and home made chocolate. They also do amazing parties with make your own chocolates, pixie sticks, a goody bad of candy, biggest blowing bubble gum and games.The owner is friendly and the store is usually decorated so well for holidays. A must visit when you come into Sparta,NJ.

Nutty Over Sweets is a classic throw-back destination that my family loves to visit. It is now a regular stop for our family because of its wonderful mix of charm and, of course, great mix of candy. It is located in the White Deer Plaza off Lake Mohawk in Sparta, NJ. The cute village along with a few good restaurants and views of the lake make this a worthy stop, however, the candy store is a great destination on its own merits. The interior features log-cabin walls and a fireplace in the corner. The candy shelves have a broad selection of the normal, modern selections (Jelly Belly, gummies, M&Ms...), however, in my opinion, it truly excels in its selection of licorice. My wife and I feast on great licorice and this place has terrific choices. They also have yummy gelato, a solid selection of bulk candy and all the basic treats my children like. We have been going there for at least three years and I should have written this review much earlier!!
