I love the Trenton Farmer's Market for the Pulaski Polish meat market, Cartlidge's veggie burgers, fresh flowers in summer and vegetables throughout the year.
Great place to get local produce. Pulaski's deli meats, the Amish butcher and 'fast food' places stand out. Fresh bread and veggies from multiple vendors. Like the old school feel and great service.
I noted that there is a wine tasting station for the "UNIONVILLE WINERIES" at the Trenton Farmers Market in Lawrence Township, NJ. Although the stand is there with wine bottles ready for pouring, there was no one to be found to dispense the wine sampling. After I purchased vegetables at the many stands at the market, a Unionville Winery rep showed up. I decided to go back to the stand. I found that the wine that I wanted to sample had a unique aroma and a distinct bouquet. I did not purchase because the unhappy rep did not offer other wines for my palate.
I am lucky to work very close to the market. The farmers who sell their produce here have done so for generations and the quality and selection is top notch. Jersey Fresh wines (Terhune and Unionville) are also sold at the market. The Polish butcher cant be beat but get there early to avoid the lines. Fresh breads, Amish dry goods, baked goods, and hot foods are worth a trip. Also available is a regular butcher, BBQ, jewelry and others. If you are in the area and haven't been stop by. Winters best days are Friday and Saturday when all of the vendors are there. The market is always closed on Mondays.
Great place to support local farmers. Fun mixture of vendors that sell everything from fruits and vegetables to jewelry. Close walk to Halo Farms. You can do one stop shopping here.
We miss the Trenton Farmers Market as it was part of our lives growing up near there. We live in another state now and do not have the pleasure of enjoying the bounty ... worth the time
Good old down on the farm Vegies etc... Do some shopping for food and you'll be pleasantly surprised ...
It makes sense to hit the market here and buy what is in season. That's key - in season - because you can't get the same quality and price anywhere. Then, hit the seafood shack behind the market for quality seafood. They both have been there forever, so they must be doing something right.
I just love this Farmers Market, great food and people. They have added some great stands in the last year and the produce is great!
Now, with no local fruits or veggies I focus on the polish deli's and Mexican tamales. The tamales are only available on Saturdays. In the summer they have a great selection of fresh fruits and veggies.
The Farmers Market has been here for years. We need to support our local farmers and crafters. Best fresh fruits, vegetables, flowers and meats. Highly recommend.
This is a weekly stop for me, year-round. Great fresh seafood, two very good butchers, lots of bakers and produce stands, a growing number of Amish farmers and people trying out a second career. Unless you want root vegetables, apples and cider, the produce side is a let-down in winter, but oh the coming of just-picked strawberries, raspberries and blackberries ~ not to mention Jersey blueberries ~ makes up for the slow months. You'll want to make friends with Carl at the Crab Shack and Walt the Pie Man and all sorts of folks whose names you may not learn but whom you'll learn to trust for the best corn, or the biggest blueberries or the best cider doughnuts, or whatever. Pulaski's Meat Market is a wonder of Eastern European meats, and Cartlidge's is the mainstream butcher of your dreams. Peanut butter made of nothing but peanuts? Apple cider from one of two orchards? The best fried chicken, great barbeque, how many kinds of eggplant picked that morning? It's all there. It's actually in Lawrence Township, not Trenton, but when it moved to its present location in 1948, it had a two-century tradition behind it in Trenton, so the name can't change now.
OMG--I love this place. It is something to do with my ecologically inclined daughter--check out the produce from many local farmers, and sample the wares of other businesses at the farmers market. We have bought nuts, honey, floral wreaths, Polish keilbasa, fresh made breads and pastries, apple cider, and much more. They have a large Amish market with prepared foods, and places to sit down and eat. I prefer the crepe place--it is relatively new, but has the most delicious sweet and savory crepes. Make sure you try one next time you are there.
