I knew in 2010 when I first came to wellington beach as a volunteer for the New Hampshire park system I would have to come back someday. I returned in 2014 this time not to work for the park, but to relax, and enjoy the scenery. The water is crystal clear, wonderful view, family friendly, and relatively quiet. there are tons of picnic tables, and grills are available if you are planning a picnic. there are no showers, but the changing rooms are spacious, and bathrooms easily accessible. I highly suggest taking the short hike along the shore, and through the woods. A must see whether you are a NH resident, or from out of state.
we got together with freinds had a nice day at the lake enjoyed cooking on grill and view was awesome
When visiting this area I would definitely visit this park The views are great and the beach is perfectly lovely
a great hike. Takes about an hour to 90 minutes if you want to stop and enjoy the sites. It's a bit rocky in patches but we hiked with an 87 year old and a younger partially disabled hiker. Really pretty views around the back end of the trail. Note: There is a $5 per person entrance fee for the park. Can add up fast with a big car load of folks.
Seriously, great for families. clean guarded beach snack bar and commercial mark star grills for cooking and smoores. Hit Shacket's store for supplies on way to lake and just relax. I think its still only $3 /head. Carry in carrry out. changing rooms on site.
Wellington State Park has a great beach, walking trails, boat ramp, changing facilities for families. Always a great take.
Went for a day trip with our picnic lunch. As expected on a beautiful Sunday in June, the beach was full but not overcrowded. With that said, we still had no problem parking with our 11:30am arrival. More surprisingly, we were able to get a picnic table right next to the sandy beach. The changing area and bathrooms were sufficiently clean though there is no means to dry your hands after washing them at the sink. People were using all of the amenities. Lots of grilling, swimming, boating, lounging on floats, and even a wedding reception. The snack bar is adequate where you can get a fudgsicle for 50-cents. There are old school steel slides (and swings) here. We saw two tall (12? footer) and two short (4 footer). The tall one was a highlight for our 8-year old son who happily reported the slide got faster after kids started dumping buckets of water down it. The beach is clean and the swimming area had a nice sandy bottom. Dad and son enjoyed a nice swim. Suggestion: Bring a table cloth or some other cover for the picnic table. Ours had small drops of pine pitch on them.
No better place to spend a summer day.I have been a frequent visitor over the years, and it never gets old.Clean crystal clear water, beautiful hiking trail, and plenty of picnic tables.Just a great place to hang out and relax.
The water here is the greatest and clearest I have had the pleasure of enjoying. The sand is great and the picnic sites are plentiful. The scenery around the lake and park is just plain fantastic. Plenty for the kids to do and just plain a great adventure.
Wish I could swim there every day. So clear, can get crowded weekends in summer. But off hours its just a special treat.
Clean. Beautiful beach on stunning newfound. Bring your own chairs and coolers maybe umbrellas. No pets and boats only at each of the ends
What happened to live free or die? We obviously didn't know pulling in, but at least they couldn't have been any more rude in explaining their policy to us.
The parking area is large, the beach is nice and the water is really clean with a nice sandy bottom.
Pack your cooler, bring the family and enjoy the sandy beach, picnic tables and shade trees. Newfound Lake is a gem and this state park allows you to BBQ and there is also a nice boat launch for a fee in addition to the park entry fee. Very excellent way to spend the day.
Beautiful sandy beach, gorgeous view of Newfound Lake. Thre is a Snack bar, hiking path, fire pits, bathrooms..
