newfound lake region association

Our friends live on Newfound Lake and it is totally peaceful and beautiful. Surrounded by quaint little towns.

My wife and I go boating on Newfound a few times each summer. As stated by others, it is exceptionally clean. It is a large lake and very deep but it doesn’t receive the traffic that Lake Winnipesaukee does.We put in at Wellington Beach State Park and for boaters, entry is free. If you intend to use the state park or beach, there is a nominal fee.The only drawback (for a boater) is that on weekends during the summer, if you’re not there early, like before 9:30AM, you’ll likely have to wait to get in the water. They will not allow a boater to put in unless there is a place to park. This prevents boaters from parking illegally out of desperation.Once in the water, a boater can anchor off Wellington Beach where the water is only a couple of feet deep and frolic in the clear water and sandy bottom.Fishing is supposed to be excellent on Newfound but it is big water and takes time to “learn” it. It is generally a cold-water species destination, containing trout, lake trout and land-locked salmon. Early spring is the time for surface fishing; summer requires a downrigger. There is a fine, casual restaurant at the southern end of the lake where one can beach his boat.

one of 2 cleanest lakes in USA. 182 feet deep and spring fed turning over every 6 months. Great for boating fun and swimming. perfect size. Other folks on lake are KIND! You don't run into jamokes like some of the bigger lakes.....see Lake Winnepeasakea.

It's big enough to go for a boat ride but not so big to attract the large wave causing boats. Exceptionally clean and we want to keep it that way.

Drove all around the West shore Rd enjoying the scenery. Stopped at Sculptured Rocks in Hebron ( a rocky gorge formation with waterfalls & pools.)

i grew up in bristol and looked forward every summer to going to the newfound lake. It is always clean and the sandy beach is perfect for kids. Wonderful place to visit if your in the area.

Newfound lake is gorgeous, surrounded by mountain views.The lake is spring fed and the water is crystal clear yet cool and refreshing.We kayaked into the sunset, it was awesome!Wellington State Park is beautiful with a generous beach area and a place to launch your boat!

Lake is beautiful and the area on the whole is really nice. Water is a bit cold at times for me since it's not what I'm use to but it is super refreshing and very very clean.

A beautiful lake, medium sized, with gorgeous mountain views all around. Yes there are jet skis, and it is busiest in July and August but this lake is handling it. Spring fed sources must be the reason why. For those not in love with colder water, it may not be the best choice. Not many go to places for restaurants on the water. Have to go to the bigger one for that. But sailing, skiing, kayaking, and all those super fun summer activities are great here. Don't forget swimming. I love it.

Thanks for a great marathon - little hilly but worth it for the views. The course ran around the lake with many views and the fall colors were starting to look good.

There are way too many jet skis and motor boats. Water is murky.kayaking at Audobon center was magnificent

The lake is relatively quiet and less busy than most and is surrounded by mountains. The air and water is clean.Fishing is difficult because the lake is very deep and is fed by cold water springs.

How lucky am I to live in the middle of NH's Lakes Region? New Hampshire has some great lakes and Newfound Lake is one of the best. The lake is spring-fed, so it fairly cold all year but there is no more refreshing lake to jump into on a hot humid summer day. Because the lake is spring-fed the water in the lake is very clean and clear. There is a great state park "Wellington State Park" on the shores of the lake giving everyone access to the lake either on their beach or putting their boat in at the boat launch. The state park is clean and well-maintained.

Good views, swimming and boating. Also there can be some good fishing. The area around the lake has some excellent wildlife areas.
