A little known State Park in Southern NH, town of Greenfield. The park offers camping be it on the rough side and the sites are buried in the woods and not lakeside. There are several nice small beaches; clean lake water and plenty of fresh air. The general store in the town center can provide all you might need no matter if you are a tenter or a luxury tow-along. A good place to meet new friends, the Park attracts a wide range of personalities. The concession stand has a full line of rentable craft to satisfy most family needs. The on-site food from the concession stand is strictly a typical concession menu but the microwaved pizza slices are great for the kids and "Rover" (unfortunately Rover has to eat his pizza on a leash). Overall the facilities have seen better days but remain functional. Although the park services are strictly seasonal, the shoulder seasons find the gates open and the beaches available. A great spot to watch the foliage turn in the fall and a good place to watch the northbound water fowl. migration.

We were there this past Fri and Sat with another family. I was personally concern after reading some of the recent reviews but we had paid so there was no turning back. Our plan was if it was really bad, we would pack up and take a 1.5hr drive home. Instead, we had a good time. We had two big lots so we ended up camping out on one with two 6-man tents, a 2-man tent and 2 minivans. Yes, we did use our other lot as the kids' playground! The staff at the office was very helpful. We had a friend who visited for the day. She was given clear directions. Also, when I got to the office shortly after for wood, the staff actually told me that I had a visitor! How nice is that! Yes, the bathrooms need a little upkeep but for $25/night, we may want to think about what $25 gets us these days. It is camping after all; I would have that bathroom and showers anytime vs an outhouse etc! Also, as campers, I feel it is also our responsibility to make sure we don't leave messes for the next person. That would make that tired toliet/bath a little more comfortable! FYI, we thought we were having a sleepless night on Sat as it was crowded, lots of music and loud activities. We also noticed a police cruiser parked at the end of my "street". Yes, the noise went over the quiet time (10pm) but at some point after (maybe 11? Did not have a watch!), the noise turned off like a tap and we all had a well rested night. Yes, it was unclear if the cruiser was there because of the recent happenings.Any by the way, I could get cell signals. I was unplugged, of course but was glad to know I could make calls when there's an emergency! So, yes, we will go back again,, and kayaking was fun!!! Thanks for a wonderful weekend, NH!

We were two families that camped out at the Greenfield State Park campsite. We had a nice time, the sites are set apart well, the folks at the reception were very friendly and helpfule, the lake/kayak/canoe rentals were reasonably priced and a fun activity. Would recommend this campsite.The bathrooms could certainly use some rework and cleaning. They did run out of toilet papers and hand wash paper towels on the two nights....needs more attention from staff.

I used to stay here with my family if we didn't choose to go to the white mountains. I had been reading reviews of people saying it wasn't good or went down hill over the years. I don't think so. I had a great time. I wasn't bothered by the staff at all, I actually found their daily rounds friendly, they'd always greet you. My boyfriend and I rented a canoe for two hours and only paid ten bucks, it was very quiet and beautiful. Wild life abundant, there had even been a whole dead deer in the lake that was pretty cool. The camping sites are pretty big and also set apart nicely. It is definitely a family place so I wouldn't recommend partying too late into the night. Overall I would absolutely recommend going here and I will most definitely be coming back.

This was supposed to be a nice weekend with friends & family I rented two sites for Friday & Saturday night. 7 kids and about the same number of adults we were having a awesome weekend went swimming at the lake rented a canoe stayed up late watching the fire and no issues Friday night. The staff were pleasant and my family and I felt comfortable and safe because the Rangers patrolled about every hour nothing major just drove though to make sure no issues. When Saturday evening rolled around I noticed some new vehicles in the campsite to the left if us. They wasn't camping just burning brush and setting the standing trees bark on fire which scared my kids because they thought they were trying to set the entire woods on fire they were very loud which wasn't an issue I mean it's summer we' re all having a great time the only issue was they was yelling racial slurs talking sexually so all the surrounding campsites could hear what they was saying. Rangers came to their site numerous times in an attempt to have them leave because come to find out these disrespectful group of people aren't even registered to be there. They refused to leave even when the ranger escorted them twice then they started threating the ranger saying that "this is my town" threating the surrounding campers because no one "stood up" for them when the Rangers came said they was gonna mess with people when they went to sleep. So after the rangers were threatened and failed to remove these people the rangers stopped patrolling are area for amount 1-2 hours within this time frame the drunks that wasnot registered started wandering and walking around on one of my sites saying they was lost(mind you they already threatened to wander) the entire time I am firmly and loudly asking them to leave my site as they are being very loud and have now woken the kids then they started accusing us of picking a fight with a friend of there's and they just wanted to prevent him from doing what he said he was going to do. The entire time I am repeating leave my site please leave my site. While this is going on we hear a fight breaking out and people yelling about guns and threating us telling us to go back to where I'm from!!! Police and State troopers arrive to question people no arrest they leave All this and NO ranger until 3:30am So now I have to start packing because there's no way me and my family could feel safe after our family was accused, threatened, disrespected and then interrogated by these people our camping trip turned into a disaster I've stayed here before without any issues I am just extremely disappointed at how this trip turned out not to mention I spent over 150$ just on the sites alone to have an unpleasant weekend ruined by disrespectful Greenfield Townies

I've gone to this campground and always had a fun time. this past year I was harassed from the minute I walked through because I am 21 and had beer. we had a cop come by our site within an hour of being there and before we even finished setting up. we were visited at 10:02 (quit hours are 10-7) for being loud even though we could hear other campsites yelling. we were visited again that night as we were going to bed around 11. the next morning we were told we were evicted and had to pay a fine. I will never come back and would discourage anyone else from coming here

We have stayed her for over 18 years and very saddened to see the slow decline. What was a beautiful park with great sites has slowly changed. The clearcutting logging project left it a bomb shelter with wide open sites. They don't clean up the sites and are under staffed. Over 100 sites are closed off due to lack of funding, but isn't that what the logging was for? Hmmmm? The dog section no longer exists so those of us who like to camp in the dog free section had to hear dogs barking and their mess in the paths around the bathrooms. Just a slow decline to what was a sure thing for many years.

Stayed overnight at Greenfield State Park this past weekend. We really only picked this park because there was a kayaking demo on Saturday. The campsites themselves were a decent size, and had the standard picnic tables and firepits - complete with grills to cook on - in place. Ground was hard-packed dirt/sand, which I guess is a plus if you don't want to worry about branches and underbrush under your tent, but it felt a little like pitching your tent in a parking space. We were in spot 113 at the end of the row, so it was nice and quiet, but not far from a water spiggot and a bathroom (which was wonderfully clean and well-stocked). Park staff were all very friendly. I think what really soured it for us was the lake; it was kind of small with no apparent outlet (ie: standing water), and the water at the shoreline was quite scummy to wade through. We even saw some sort of oily substance in spots, not sure if this was something natural from the lake itself or pollution from visitors. Once you got out on the water is was very calm and peaceful (we were there early in the morning so we were alone on the water), but getting in and out was a little unpleasant. Hardly saw any wildlife at all, but I guess that's to be expected in such a small, busy park. All in all we felt it was just OK. We've seen better, but all the basics were there for anyone who can't make it to another park further away.

We booked a last minute weekend trip looking to get out of the city and relax in the woods. This park (as many of NH state parks) is beautiful, spacious and very clean. The check in process was simple and we found our site without problem. There were quite a few campers but the park was not packed. As I walked through the campground, I noticed a particular site where campers had beer boxes as part as their supplies, and they made no effort on hiding them (isn't alcohol prohibited in NH parks?). Later on, we visited the campers beach, where another group of campers were drinking beer out of a cooler, and all the empty bottles scattered around them; all of this while a Lifeguard stood no more than 10 feet away from where they sat. Quiet hours were supposed to be 10:00pm-7:00am, but it felt like this marked the beginning of the "non-quiet" hours as some campers (probably the ones with the beer boxes) were incredibly loud and rowdy, carrying on the "party"until the early hours of the morning. We had no phone signal so we were unable to call the office. I never saw a Ranger in the two days that I was there. Our "relaxing weekend" turned out to be far from quiet, which is a shame because NH state parks were always our first choice for camping. I would consider visiting the park again, but I doubt that I will camp.

My husband and I have visited this park on several occasions in the past and have absolutely loved it. Not too far from Boston, well kept grounds and large campsites with picnic tables. Even though there are neighboring campers, the areas are spaced nicely so you never get the sense that you are in the midst of a crowd. The reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the change in the pet allocated area. It would have been great if that area still existed so that people with pets could remain in one area and campers who preferred not to have pets around them could still enjoy that option. I'm happy to see from the last review that they are diligent about enforcing the rules though! This year we will be taking our toddler with us and the last thing I would like to have to deal with is someone's unattended pet wandering around (Let me worry about the bears and nature instead :-). Overall, a very beautiful place. Looking forward to visiting again this summer for some great r and r with the family.

My family and I camped here last summer. We had been going for years growing up and decided to re visit this time with our dogs. They are not very dog friendly. You are confined to a small area with your dogs and if you get caught walking outside of the dog area you get spoken to. (The dog area is very small) One person has to be with the dog at all times on the site which means if you want to go to the beach one family member gets left behind with the dog. I would like to take my dog with me everywhere! I felt as if we were "jailed" to our campsite since we have a dog. If you camp with dogs don't come here unless you like to be confined to your site for the weekend.

Very large campsites with metal campfire rings and a hinged grill that you can lower down onto the fire. The bathrooms and showers are clean and modern. The staff in the front office is very friendly. A camp store on site carries items that you might have forgotten at home. Cute little beach on a lake where you can go swimming or boating. We will definitely be back!

Greenfield was a favorite for my children years ago. On a recent trip back we were very disappointed to find the cutting of trees in an effort to support new growth. The wooded, private sights were always an attraction for us. Unfortunately, that has been stripped away. The park was littered with the debris due to cutting with only the larger trees and branches removed. They were encouraging visitors to scavenge for firewood with the mess left behind. The cleanliness of this park is not as wonderful as past reported. The bathrooms are in need of floor repairs and thorough cleaning. A simple swipe of cobwebs and bugs would be an improvement,. There is a longtime accumulation of both, this does not happen overnight. The public beach area looks almost abandoned for lack of upkeep. The changing rooms are in awful disrepair. There is a tribute to past heroes that was a disgrace, with a broken wooden pallet in front and the area around it need of mowing. When my children were young we were always concerned that the campground would be full when we arrived, it was known to happen. To our surprise there were MANY empty spots this year. Perhaps it is time for the state to ask themselves why!

Came here July 2013. At check-in, park staff were very friendly. You park at the "main house" and get out of your car to check-in. Or if daylight is burning, you can just drive into your site, dump off the family to set-up and just come back to the main house. Sites were very spacious! Wood was $6 a cord, but I suggest checking out your campsite before buying. They recently cleared a lot of trees, and many sites had loads of wood to burn. No one bothered our group. We had 2 sites next to each and could easily walk between them. The lake was the best part! Clean, wide swimming area. No lifeguard, so watch the kids-which folks should be doing anyway. :) You can rent a canoe for 1 hr and a half for $10. Not bad. The shop at the day use area sells whole cheese pizzas for $10. Fishing was unsuccessful for me, whether it was morning or night, but that's the way it goes sometimes. Showers were hot and free. There were 4 or 5 stalls, with only 1 stall that had cold water. For supplies like water, beer, and food, we drove 1 mile into town to Delay's Country Store on Forest Rd. They've got all the essentials. Overall, I'd surely return.

For a state park, Greenfield is great! While like all state parks, you don't have electricity or water at each camping sight, its wooded, private, clean and well kept.
