Did the full day trip with our family of 4. Rafting in the morning, lunch at noon, kayaking in the afternoon. Our guide was extremely patient with helping us navigate our kayaks with a young child on board. Fun day for the whole family!
Definitely a fun experience! Company was fun and very informative! Highly recommend!!! We can't wait to go again next year!
Easy to book, easy to find, hassle-free preparations, free equipment (wet suits, water shoes, splach jackets, etc...), upbeat and fun staff. The splashing starts right away, the run on the river is fun (but tame; if you're looking for WHITE water look elsewhere) and you get to do it twice. Lunch is served, but pretty plain. The drive through Berlin is painful with it's 25mph speed limit and three-dozen speed traps, but the even is worth pain. A great family day.
Thanks so much for the great review! I know Pat & Lincoln came back to the shop raving about what a fun time they had with your crew. The photos were great! It's often fun guests that make a trip a great time!
Thanks, Stacy! We can't wait to have you back! Brandy really is a gem...we're so lucky to have her as a guide!
We're a family of four (with kids ages 8 and 10). We did a half day trip from the Pontook Dam (class II/III). The North Woods Rafting company and crew did a great job of making our day fun and wet, with a nice meal at the end. The kids loved it. However, even my 10 year old said he was a little disappointed it wasn't faster. Translation -- no white-knuckle moments on this lazy river. A few white-water splashes (thanks to our guide) and a chance to swim and paddle some duckies, but not exactly a thrill ride by any means. Great for families, or nervous adults. But if you're looking for "The River Wild", drive another couple hours to Maine.
I recently did the Magalloway trip with North Woods Rafting and had a great time. Lincoln and the rest of the crew were super helpful and took great care of us. He took time to explain everything that was going to happen and made sure we were outfitted well, and that we were as prepared as we could be for a bunch of nubes. Definitely a great value, gave us 4 runs and even offered a fifth if anyone was up for it. Much better than another company that swooped in and out for 2 runs while we were there. Great job, NW rafting!
My family chose to spend a full day doing the class II/III Pontook Dam adventure. It was a fantastic time. When we called for reservations, Lincoln answered all of our questions and made us feel very confident in our choice of companies to raft with. When we arrived, our boats and gear (wetsuits and booties, splashcoats, helmets and life jackets) were in great shape which is always nice to see. Our guides, Brandy and Luc were knowledgeable, experienced and a ton of fun! We felt safe and well looked after, as this was our first time white water rafting. They took each of our levels of thrill seeking into account (my husband being the dare devil, me not so much and our teenager somewhere in between) to give us the best experience possible. We took multiple trips down the river, in both the big raft and the inflatable kayaks (duckies) and each experience was different than the last. They guided us through the best of the rapids for the most amazing time! Norm, their photographer, spent the day along the river banks taking beautiful pictures of our adventures and we were able to purchase a CD of our memories for at a very reasonable price. Lunch was included in our ticket price and the cookies were delicious! We drove two hours to get to them and it was completely worth it! I would highly recommend North Woods Rafting for your next adventure!!!
I have gone with North Woods Rafting, aka Wicked Good Outfitters twice. The first time I brought my dad, a very nervous step-mom and son. They made her feel comfortable and confident. They allowed my experienced son paddle his own boat, which was an amazing esteem booster. The next time we brought four kids under the age of twelve. What a BLAST for every skill level. The pictures were fabulous and I will continue to bring family and friends for more trips!
Last summer my parents and my boyfriend and I went out with North Woods Rafting and I must say it was such a blast! The crew was upbeat and funny and there wasn't a moment of boredom, not to mention the lunch food was amazing. Rafting with them on their infamous New Years trip is now on my bucket list!
I took an online date on a 1/2 day trip with NWR and we had such a great time. The guides are very skilled but allowed everyone to splash around and have fun. The trip included time at a swimming hole, some rapids, and the guide also pointed out an osprey nest and likely places to see eagles. The food afterwards (included in your ticket price) was yummy and plentiful, especially the cookies! I'd definitely do this again with a date or friends or family.
Thanks for the great review! We love youth groups and do our best to make it possible (and fun) for young people to enjoy the outdoors in the summertime. We're looking forward to having your group back!
Visited today as party of ten, including six children aged 7-13. We had travelled up from North Conway after hearing good reviews. We were not disappointed. Lincoln(aka Pig Meat) was a great host/ guide, even some of his jokes were funny. Two trips down the river enjoyed by all, great lunch, photos and all in all well worth the money. Very glad we did not book with the competition who took twice as long to get down the rapids with many more people per boat! Best activity so far for two UK families holidaying in New England.
All trips in this location are short as compared to rafting trips elsewhere, so the owners have to make the experience fun, which they did. We had a choice of being on a raft, in an inflatable kayak, or being on a raft and dropped off in mid-river to swim through the whitewater. We took five trips on the river over 6 hours. The boss (Lincoln) is a steady source of jokes (mostly pretty corny, but that's OK). All in all a good experience in the area, and easily suitable for kids as well as adults (the jokes are kept clean).
We booked the tour without knowing much about the river and the place, some of us had don water rafting in the past and it came out that it was the simplest and most basic tour on that day, when the guides noticed that our expectations were higher, they made everything in their hands to assure that we had a great time.Their photo service is awesome, the only thing i´d recommend to work on in the lunch offered afterwards, it´s ok with sandwiches, but the way they serve them it seems that no one cares much about it and everyone is more focused on leaving than on finishing the great experience provided beforegreat job guys, keep doing it that way! keep improving!
