I took my grandchildren to Libby Museum twice this year, as they always want to return. On Wednesdays they were featuring Wildlife Encounters which was an absolute blast for everyone. It was interactive and well paced. Older children and adults got to touch and experience some of the animals. Very well done.
The Libby Museum, just outside Wolfeboro, NH is a wonderful little natural history museum dedicated to the collection of a one Dr. Libby. You will find lots of animal displays, with moose, bears, an alligator, NH's favorite bird the Loon, and many more. Lots of rarities too, such as a $500 bill of Confederacy money from the 1860s! There are also rocks that you can pick up and a sand-and-shell area that kids can play in. Although it is one large room, there is so much to see! We spent over two hours here, including a picnic lunch just outside. The small parking lot is right across the street, with a beautiful view of Lake Winnipesaukee. About two miles up the road on the right side is the lovely Abinakee Tower trail, a must for anyone who wants a birds-eye view of the Lakes Region. The Libby Museum, with a nominal fee and so much to see, should not be missed.
This museum surprised me. I stopped here after visiting the Wright Museum and was totally surprised. This museum has a bunch of exhibits to look at. They have everything from taxidermy animals to old guns to Indian artifacts. For the kids they have a scavenger hunt and they receive a prize at the end, my kids loved this and really helped them learn more about the exhibits. It's not big, but they pack a lot in what space they have and I highly recommend visiting if your in the area. The staff is very nice and helpful and you can't miss the great view of Lake Winnipesaukee across the street.
A taxidermist dream. Small museum but small price for admission $8 for family of 5. Spent 2 hours on a rainy day. When we arrived the girl at the front desk gave us a clipboard with a scavenger hunt. My kids enjoyed this and it gave them reason to read displays and learn about exhibits rather than just walk by. Small prize was given for completed list
The museum is very small, but has some very interesting items and things to look at. Perfect to stop in on a rainy day or if you're looking to kill some time.
This is so interesting for a small but complete Museum. Freindy staff great views of the lake and very clean.
small, quaint and endearingly committed to the natural beauty of the lakes region.mounted birds are exquisite. displays are historical and informative....overall very very interesting
The Libby Museum is filled with interesting animal specimens. I enjoyed browsing through the fish that are found in Lake Winnipesaukee. Cheap entrance fee, small museum but nice. Very friendly staff members as well. :-)
