We stopped at Smuttynose for lunch and the brewery tour. Apparently their restaurant was brand new and only opened a week before our visit, so I am sure they will quickly make some small improvements. We waited 20 mins at 2:30pm on Saturday - it was quite busy. Our server was really good, but the menu was surprisingly gourmet... it looked great to me but there was not the basic burger or chicken for my hubby who isn't into gourmet... and this was a brew pub after all. Another flaw was the menu - again its a brewery but we were not give anything that detailed the beers we could choose from to buy by the glass or do the sampler platter, so we had to ask the server and he let us use his " cheat sheet" guide. The brewery tour guide was GREAT. He was loud and vibrant and handled the big group we ended up with very well. He was full of knowledge and enthusiasm for the brewery, beers, how they make it and the owners background. They took us right into the heart of the brewery facility, which was quite a treat. Good beer selection... flavorful.

If you are a beer lover and enjoy taking brewery tours then this is a great little tour with a nice free beer tasting at the end! The tour lasts about 25 minutes and then you get to sample four beers of your choice at the end. A great free activity for any beer lover!

Took a drive to "beach" on a winter's day and stopped at the newer Smuttynose-- this location opened in May 2014 from Portsmouth location. The building won a NH architectural award. Energy and Green focused. The tour was interesting -- lots of facts and information. 4 good size samples with the free tasting; more good info on the beer. Great way to spend a winter's day. A restaurant is soon to open on the property--- will be back!

This is a great find in NH. If you are in the area you should definitely stop in for a really awesome, up close tour with really cool and knowledgeable staff. The samples and toir were on the house, with two separate donation bins near the sample station for local charities. They even offered the kids some water while we sampled and what made it better is that my kids actually learned something about science and chemistry which was a plus. Definitely worth the trip and make sure you pick up some smuttylab creations that they sell for a very reasonable price in the store. Will be going back again when the restaurant is open!

My boyfriend and I visited the Smuttynose Brewery this past weekend and had a great experience. Our tour guide, Ben, was very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. We learned a lot about the facility and about Smuttynose in general. The building is really nice as well as the gift shop where you can create your own variety pack. The beer tasting was awesome and we tried some that I had never heard of before. My favorite was the Smistletoe, their limited edition Christmas beer.

Having completed the Vermont Brewers Passport this year, my partner and I decided to check out Smutty Nose. This state of the art brewery is amazing. The staff were all incredibly friendly and the beer was awesome. We even brought home some pumpkin brittle which was amazing. If you haven't tried it, I recommend the winter Ale!

My bf and I took a trip from Boston to visit Smuttynose after the Clemson University and Boston College football game weekend. I had planned to visit a brewery while I was up visiting and I chose Smuttynose. This is a very nice place. They have a pretty facility and I really enjoyed looking at how they use alternative energy as well as how they save energy and resources. They were in the process of building a restaurant next door so it wasn't open yet. We were greeted as we walked into the store and walked back to do a tasting. The guy at the tasting booth was awesome! He explained everything and knew his beer. He even suggested other breweries around that we should visit. I love how the craft beer guys promote others instead of trying to "compete" with them. Great job! Hopefully I can come back after the restaurant is opened up!

Last weekend my fiance and I decided to randomly go for a drive and ended up at the Smuttynose Brewery for a tour and a tasting. The tour itself was very typical of brewery tours, we learned about the brewing process, smelled some hops, etc. But then we were led to the bottling area which was really cool. The brewery itself it really neat. Its a little hard to find because there's no signage on the street, but worth the drive.

We arrived at the end of the day but the staff arranged to provide a tour for just me. I advised at the start that I was a home brewer so at every stop the guide gave me much more technical detail. The brewery has installed systems and methods which reduce their energy consumption and their waste. Throughout the brewery they also use the latest and some custom equipment to brew their beers. This is a new facility and is very impressive. The sampling at the end of the tour was really great with most of their beers on tap and ample samples. It was very difficult constraining my purchse of representative samples. This is one of the best brewery tours I have experienced.

Unfortunately the brewery tour wasn't available today but since it was my day off I was out to explore. Beautiful new property bringing one of NH's best Craft brews to life. The brewery is on an old restored farm property w a farm house across the parking lot that will house a small brew restaurant opening in December. Also on the property you will see an old silver trailer down on the left side of the property. Is that the long, long trailer that Lucy and Rickie Arnaz pulled all over the states in that classic movie. It is in fact a vintage PONTIAC CHIEF COACH that in the spring, after some refurbishing will house the Smuttynose outside beer garden. The brewery is extremely "green" with all the energy saving designs, production methods and recycling/reuse of items. They also have bee hives on the farm to encourage pollination and for honey production that will be used for the restaurant and beer production. Could be MEAD production be around the corner? As far as the tasting there are 7-8 taps to choose from and there is no charge for the tasting although you are limited to 4 tastes. The pours are generous so spread you time out. The Hampton police are well aware that there is a brewery down the road from the main street. Since it's Fall don't miss out on the Pumpkin Ale. Nice and creamy with hints of spice and pumpkin. You also have to try the original Shoals Pale Ale that started it all. A New England Amber ale that's worth the taste. The gift shop has a whole range of T-shirts and other wearables, logod pint glasses etc. and some of the bottled Smuttynose craft beers both in a refrigerated cooler and at room temp. I grabbed a pint of their Scotch Ale. If you like what you tasted from the tap in the tasting room the freindly staff can fill up a "growler" for you to take home. Pries vary according to size and selection. It was a great day out there in Hampton and I look fwd to returning thru the year to see the new restaurant and the new exciting happenings at Smuttynose.

Stopped in at Smuttynose en route from Maine to a wedding in western Mass. Intended to do a quick sampling and then purchase bottles or growlers of whichever beers we enjoyed most. However, we were told that tastings are only offered after tours, so we'd have to take a tour in order to sample. I used to work at a brewery; I have no need for a tour, and nor did we have time for one anyway, as we had a wedding to get to.... We merely wanted to try (& buy) the beers that aren't available in our area. Perhaps the tour-before-tasting requirement is part of some sort of arcane New Hampshire law, but they could have at least mentioned this oddity on their website. So just be aware that if you want to taste, you also have to tour.
