Excellent visit, strongly recommend it to everyone. Fantastic display of vintage boats, boating related equipment, fishing tackle etc.
We visited with a group while in Alexandria. Our guide was informative and the boats are amazing. A great stop. Don't forget the gardens outside.
Into to boats or not there's something of interest for everyone. The collection, from the modest fishing boat to the beautiful wooden inboards of the past, it's all there.
Great collection of old and classic boats - they have a rotating exhibit that is always interesting.
I get seasick easily so you might think a museum for boats would be of no interest, but that's not the case. Even if boats are only a passing interest to you, this museum has a lot to offer. There's a plethora of boats ranging from little skiffs to huge power boats. But it isn't about the size of the boats, it's about the craftsmanship that has gone into them. The boats in this museum seem more like pieces of art than utilitarian machines. The wood used in some of them and their designs are pleasing to the eye. Some of the boats from the 1950s reminded me of automobiles from that era in color combinations and big fins. There are common, unusual and historic boats at the museum, This place is definitely worth a visit.
A great place for a quiet date. My boyfriend loves boats so we decided to check it out. We both really enjoyed strolling around looking at everything. A great surprise was the garden in the back. It's absolutely beautiful, if we could we would stay there the whole day and just enjoy the view. I can see why people want to have weddings here.
A great place to visit with awesome boats. We had no idea of what to expect and it was well worth our time. Don't miss it!
This museum is the reason we stayed in Alexandria for the night. Have always had a attraction to the classic wooden boats. Enjoyed the history of crafts and the view of the room with all the Chris Crafts, Gars, etc., is simply breathtaking!! It was raining to hard to take in the gardens-another trip.
There for a wedding. It was absolutely beautiful. The worker was great to us (the wedding party). Didn't get a chance to look around the entire museum but I will go back most definitely.
We didn't know what to expect at this little gem of a museum...but were wonderfully surprised by the extensive collection of classic motor boars in fabulous condition from the 1940's, '50s and '60s....along with all sorts of hunting and fishing boats, motors and the history of the Erickson Boatyard. Plus there is a lovely waterfall garden out back. It brought back lots of fun childhood memories and for the younger generation...they will be impressed on how beautiful motorboats were crafted back then. Fun for the whole family...and very small fee to get in.
I don't know anything about boats but this museum is still very interesting as it has assembled a vintage collection of early boats including Chris Crafts. Any boat lover travelling through the area should stop here for a visit. Also, the personnel were very helpful and enthusiastic about their exhibits.
We really enjoyed this museum--it has a neat variety of antique boats, along with historic information about the lakes and boating. Interesting displays on old hotels, cottages, fishing lures, motors, etc. The Maritime Gardens just opened--a pretty area right outside the museum. The little gift shop has some nice quality gift items, too.
A Nice way to spend an hour or so. Lots of old boats to look at, as well as a room with old fishing lures. Several video stations to watch also. Pretty neat, even if your not into fishing or boating or duck hunting, still very interesting.
Amazing collection of wooden boats. Well worth the drive. Great fishing and old resort memorabilia.
Wonderful museum dedicated to the history of the lakes area and vintage wooden boats. Doesn't take a huge amount of time to see but well worth the visit. Very nicely kept, nice grounds and great exhibits. All ages will enjoy it!
