The Agate shop and museum in Beaver Bay is a great place to stop if ever driving along the North Shore. We stopped for a stretch and found ourselves in the museum checking out all the rocks and even ended up purchasing a couple of rock animals to take with us to Mongolia. The staff were kind and the shop was laid out very well. If you are stopping to get fuel, the shop is a short walk from the nearest gas station.

For many of us, the North Shore is about the rocky beaches...and agate hunting. The Beaver Bay Agate shop has become a traditional stop as we travel up the shore. The owners are fantastic, great customer service, so friendly and so willing to help educate people about the geology of the area. They share their wealth of knowledge happily! The shop has beautiful agates for sale, along with so much more. Rocks and minerals from around the globe, plus owner creates amazing jewelry! There is a fantastic collection of thompsonite, agates and more to view in a little museum. They have all the agate books and area history in the store as well. We brought friends from Europe here so they could train their eye to see what a rough agate would look like before hiking the beaches. I always leave the Beaver Bay Agate Shop with a smile, a new rock to look for and a feeling that they have some of the best customer service around. Thanks!
