I came to Scenic for the first time in September to do some hiking. The road to Scenic was called Scenic Highway and it was very scenic and amazing to see and drive on. For the hiking the trails had many large hills to traverse but they were all well maintained. Right by the park office is a great Bog boardwalk. It was a beautiful little ecosection to hike through. The Chase Point trail is well worth hiking on. The trail goes for about a mile on a thin strip of land thought to be a glacial esker. The views of Zaiser island and the Sandwick lake are extraordinary from the ridge. Really a great park for scenery and hiking. Seems like a place where you could spend a lot of time exploring. Worth the trip and the time to come here and see it for yourself.

This is a very nice park to camp at. We lucked out with campsite #42 which was very spacious and pretty secluded from other campers, but the other sites looked decent as well. However, I would say that the Chase Point Campground is better over Lodge due to the lakeside boardwalk. We didn't do too much hiking (just the Chase Point trail), but what we did hike was very pretty. The terrain is pretty flat, so it shouldn't be to difficult to hike the trails. Lastly, Coon Lake is a very nice lake to fish and canoe in. The swimming beach is kinda underwhelming though. Overall, a very nice park

My family and I have been here a few times. We usually rent out the group sites, and it's huge!!!!! I'm not sure how many group sites there are, but this one was pretty spacious. We were right by the lake, and they even have canoe and row boat for you to use. I believe you have to rent the oars but it's worth it. I don't have anything to complain about this site. All I have to say is that , bring as much people as you can to this group site, and you'll enjoy a wonderful time. We plan on going back again, but I'm kind of a cabin fan now. Still love this place though. You can drive your car right up to the group site and basically park it right next to your tent or where ever.

As a regular camper cabiner in MN, this is the best in the state! The cabin is so beautiful and rustic and comes with ample room! What we didn't know going in was that the cabin comes equipped with a mini fridge, toaster, microwave, even a 2-burner stove. Also has everything u need from pots, pans, silverware, and utensils.Great hiking trails and beautiful hike-in campsites if you're looking for seclusion, privacy and looking to be one with nature! :)

I gave been going to Scenic State Park since the 60's. Some of my fondest childhood memories are there. Chase Point trail is wonderful. The ranger tower, open or closed, is definitely worth the hike, and fishing on the amazingly clear waters of Coon and Sandvic lakes can't be beat. The pavilion is a great place to relax. Give your family and friends a chance to have the memories I do. Go there!

My husband and I camped here over Labor Day weekend. The campground itself was nice. Our campsite was excellent and very private compared with others (Chase Point Campground - Site #7). The site was a bit of a walk away from the flush toilets, but it was worth it. The Chase Point hike to the scenic overlook was very nice, although it was crowded. The overlook is under construction, so we were not able to walk down to the water from this point. The "interpretive" trail was not interpretive at all. The two signs on the path were old and unreadable. The mosquitoes were awful and much of the path was uphill. We did not do the hike to the fire tower as the fire tower is still closed. One thing we did enjoy was the naturalist program. There were only four of us at the program; the naturalist took us around and explained various plants, including autumn flowers. It was very informative. Overall, we enjoyed the campground.

I stopped into scenic state park for the day and hiked out to Chase Point after finding out the fire tower was all locked up. There are two large campgrounds, boat launch, swimming area and picnic spots. It was a bit later in the day, and I had forgot to put on any bug spray so I must have been extra attractive for the flies and mosquitoes. Chase Point trail starts out in a bit of a swampy area and quickly elevates to a ridge line between Coon & Sandwick lakes. The trail itself is pretty flat with drop offs to either side down to the lake. You walk out on the peninsula through old growth White Pine, Red Pine, Cedar and Birch. I was a bit disappointed to find the end of the trail closed as they try to reestablish some vegetation. I totally understand but this is kind of why you hike out to the end of a peninsula is to take in the views. This park would be a great fishing destination or perhaps for any activity on the water but I'm not sure it offered a ton of other opportunities worth the drive.

This state park is beautiful and particularly good for hiking and canoeing. I have not camped there, as I stay at a nearby cabin, so I cannot review the camping. I have visited for hiking and canoeing and really enjoy the scenery and trail options. Definitely a must-see in Chippewa National Forest!

We were attracted to Scenic initially as my Dad had helped in construction of the Park in the early 1930s as a worker in the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the depression. Our daughters and three grandsons camped at Scenic for four days while we stayed in nearby Grand Rapids. The campsites are beautifully laid out and one is hardly aware of neighbors. Many old growth red and white pines tower over the sites. Sites are designed for tent or small camping trailer or drive thru for larger units. There are also a number of tent sites accessible by a short hike. A beautiful lake offers fishing from canoe, kayak, or rowboat, bring your own or rent at park office and a swimming beach. Many of the buildings were constructed by the CCCs including a rental cabin. The large lodge offers shelter during inclement weather with a fireplace and numerous photos documenting park development. For folks who love the outdoors, Scenic is about as good as it gets.
