This is a regional park in Cottage Grove, Minnesota. It's pretty close to the Wal-Mart, off of U.S. Highway 61. There are nature trails, a small lake with a fishing pier, and a picnic shelter. In the winter the trails can be used for Nordic skiing. I like the park because it's small and quiet. There are fish in the lake if you know what you're doing.
I live nearby and this is one of my favorite places to hike - wooded hills, ravines, a serene pond, deer, birds, a nice trail system. In the winter, the trails are great for cross-country skiing. It's great if you're alone, fun for families, romantic for couples, beautiful at sunset.
Nice little hidden park that has great hiking, fishing, and geocaching in the middle of cottage grove just south of St. Paul. I definitely recommend it.
It is a beautiful park tucked away in the valleys. Nice picnic facilities, I highly recommend going to this hidden beauty especially in the fall.
It's a great place to take young children to, they have a wooden play set and ample room for them to enjoy in the center of this ravine. Also a good place for an inexpensive birthday party for children. You are surrounded by nature so it's a nice experience for the whole family. There is a small lake with a fishing pier right across from the children's play area, which also would be a good experience for them. Haven't tried to fish there yet. Lots of turtles basking themselves in the heat of the day on logs in the water. The park is conveniently located to Highway 61 which runs right through Cottage Grove.
The Ravine Regional Park is a beautiful oasis south of the Cities. The main trails are wide and well maintained. It is a 3 mile walk from the new Washington Co Service Center to the small lake. Near the lake are picinic tables and a playground. It is very pretty in the Ravine year round. Their are paths through the trees for hiking and cross country sking. The asphalt paths are great for walking and biking. Try it, you'll love it! Take Hwy 61 south to Innovation Rd, left across the bridge and then right onto E Point Douglas Rd. It is worth the trip.
At the south end of the suburb of Cottage Grove is the Ravine Regional Park. From the very nice picnic area one has access to a series of trail loops ranging up to several miles. Lots of up and down hiking through the woods, and one short piece along the lake by the picnic grounds. As you enter the park there is a sign diverting you to the left to go to a lookout area; we were not able to find the lookout area, but did find a rough trail through an overgrown field that was pleasant. I would suggest focusing on starting from the picnic area and enjoying the established trails. Great children's play area. No swimming allowed at the lake, but there is a fishing dock that some people were enjoying the afternoon we were there. Note that there is a $5 per car entrance fee. Recommended for picnics and hiking.
