My family and I were guests at Points Unknown in early March. What a fantastic experience! I would highly recommend Points Unknown for your dog sledding experience. Linda and Neil truly love their dogs and sledding. We did just the Taste of dog sledding tour since it was our first experience. Now that we know we'd love to return for more.

One of the best hands on educational experiences you will ever have! The opportunity that was given to our group exceeded expectations. The owners and the handlers knowledge and expertise allowed our group to learn so much about not only dog sledding but also team work. The willingness of everyone to allow us to learn by doing was amazing and the hospitality was outstanding. The dogs were so much fun to be around! They are so well behaved and who doesn't love puppies. All the dogs have their own personalities and you will get the opportunity to meet and work with all of them. If your heading north then this is definitely something you need to look into. It is an experience we truly wont forget!

I couldn't be any more thrilled after my time spent at Points Unknown. The entire visit was full of educational and interesting information for the hospitable and caring owners and caretakers of the dogs. Our group definitely received more hands-on-experience than we anticipated and definitely can't wait for our next visit sometime in the future. The dogs on the premises were absolutely gorgeous and so well-behaved. The caretakers obviously take pride in their dogs and show them so much love, as well as tailoring to every dogs individual needs and attitudes. This impressive off-grid location was the perfect getaway from the stresses of the real world, and the surrounding area and towns are absolutely breathtaking. I couldn't be any happier with this experience!

This was an amazing and heartwarming adventure. The dogs, the owners, the handlers--everyone is so friendly and eager to teach. The dogs are such beautiful animals and the puppies were so much fun to play with. Everyone should take the time to visit this wonderful place and get a glimpse of this simpler yet majestic lifestyle.

Points Unknown was a great adventure! The owners, dogs, facilities and environment was perfect. The owners welcomed us into their home and life and gave us a glimpse into the life of a musher. The kennels they keep their dogs in are extremely clean and great. The owners were very inviting, caring and knowledgable. The dogs were extremely friendly and well trained. They also sell candles as another business, which everyone should check out! Overall, the experience was one I'll never forget thanks to everyone involved.

What a place! Linda and Neil are super great and very kind people. They treat their lovely sled dogs like royalty, are super great cooks with nutrition and dietary needs in mind, and very good teachers of the trade they are so passionate about.

An excellent way to challenge yourself and your team, build a shared experience to last a lifetime, and learn new skills. Linda, Neil, and Claire made this a phenomenal recreational and learning experience, combined with superb company and conversation. Certainly an experience to repeat!

Our day began with the kind of minor disaster that happens when you leave the "beaten track" in the northern winter - try as we might we could not get our rental car up the hill where the "road" they are on meets Arrowhead Trail. So, we started by begging for a rescue. We'd booked a one day "tour," but were promptly asked if we wanted to ride or if we wanted to learn to mush. There was only one possible answer to that question. There's only so much you can learn in one day, but our instructions (on two feet and on four paws) definitely did their best and we got through it without, in descending order of disaster-severity - losing our team, injuring a dog or tipping the sled. (Which is apparently an achievement). You do need to be somewhat fit to try this - my arms ached for a couple of days and I AM pretty fit. If anyone tries to say the dogs do all the work - nope. Not remotely. But it's definitely worth it for the experience of gliding through the woods towed along by a team of Hedlund huskies (Points Unknown is involved in the preservation project for this rare strain of Alaskan dog - these are big dogs, closer to Malamutes in size than normal Siberians, well made and beautifully tempered). Don't forget to hug your dogs - these might be working animals, but they're also affectionate. Linda also "made" us play with their latest litter of eight week old fuzzballs, three of which had already gone to new homes, leaving five.If you love dogs and/or want to try something new that's not always easy to find - head out there. They also cooked us lunch and made sure we made it out, called a restaurant for us and basically treated us like family.(Again, this really is an activity for the reasonably-in-shape - it's harder work than you would think).

Everything about Points Unknown is spectacular in every way - the owners (caring, nurturing, fun, inviting, intelligent and more), the dogs (calm, clean, loving, spirited), the setting (majestic, powerful, spiritual, overwhelming), the experience (you come in as one person and leave as another - altered in every way by what you have just done)

We had a great trip, with great food, great company, and learned to mush by patient, kind people. The dogs are well trained and love to run, but also enjoy attention from people. Will definitely go back!

That is what this experience will do. An opportunity to truly understand the meaning of "team". Beautiful surroundings, wonderful dogs, and experienced, patient teachers who believe in you even when you don't. Linda,Neil, and Claire- Thank you for an experience I will be learning from for a long time. I Loved it!

I am not sure how this place doesn't get more reviews considering the great comments in their visitors book!! We spent a day with Linda , Neil , Hayley and Claire and this was one of the best things we have ever done on any holiday. The dogs are so calm and you get to meet each and every one of them, you learn about the history of this type of activity and the background to the dogs down the years. Once you have met the dogs, you can be as hands on as you wish in preparing them for your sled run and I would encourage anyone to take part in all they offer. Points Unknown put your safety as their number one priority and if you don't wish to handle the dogs then they do everything for you. However these dogs are so kind and gentle , guests of all ages would feel relaxed. The owners and handlers know their stuff and before you know it you are whisked off on the most amazing sled ride through the trees , one guest per sled. The ride takes around 45 minutes and the "mushers" tell you a lot of interesting facts during the trip. With 6 to 8 dogs per sled you go deep into the MN wilderness and the experience is one we will never forget. It is clear that Points Unknown care deeply about their dogs and also about giving you a fantastic experience . To round off a great day out Linda also made fantastic pizza that we enjoyed around the table in their home.A special thank you to the handler/guides Hayley and Claire who worked so hard to make our day so special.Would highly recommend this experience to everyone
