Fabulous summer evening we decided to take in an outdoor movie. This place is great for entertainment and you can even get there early and tailgate prior to the movie. Only one minor irritation was the fact I felt the intermission was a bit long being 3 movies were playing. Also the bathrooms do get crowded which perhaps is the reason for the longer intermission. I will definitely be returning for another trip.
I enjoy going to Vali-Hi as much as possible, as it reminds me of my younger years. Great date night, bring a grill and a cooler and your set. The price is great for even 1 movie let alone 3,if you can last. More drive-ins should be brought back as its fun for all! Thank you Vali-Hi
Drive right in settle in and enjoy a great movie a great price and if having a simple meal is what you're looking for grab some chips and pop from home and grab a hot dog they are only 1 buck each with condiments available. The restrooms are good not the queens palace but good for a drive in. Get there early last night they were full over capacity but it's worth the wait.
We always look forward to our first drive-in movie of the year. It is a sure sign of summer. And it brings back great memories.
We totally appreciate this place! We used to be lucky enough to live very close to two different drive ins & now it's just the Vali-Hi. We try to go there a few times each summer! Awesome summer family activity. :)
My wife and I finally went to the drive-in last night, after living within 5 miles of it for the past year. On the website it states that on weeknights it opens at 8, so silly me thought the movies start then. But they actually start as soon as the sun goes down, so it was about 9pm when the movies started. Everyone around was having a blast before the movies started. Grilling, playing catch, or just spending time with friends/families. They have excellent speakers right next to each parking stall which have ~4 ft of cord, so you can move it all the way to your car (we hooked ours up to the trunk right next to where we were sitting). After the first movie, they give a break of about 20-30 minutes before starting the next movie for people to get snacks, go to the bathroom, or head out. We made it through the second movie and that put us at about 12:45am. As for the concessions, it is great prices and lots of games for kids! Overall, a wonderful date night and a lot of fun!
Love the drive in. We grew up calling them the "outdoor". It's fun to go and watch movies with the kids. And the price is very affordable.
This place is awesome! It has tons of parking spots, has great snacks (hot dogs for 1.00) and plays 3 movies for one low price! We always bring a cooler with our own drinks and sometimes bring a small grill to BBQ. The atmosphere is fun and kids love it!
Excellent Value, great way to kick it old school with my kids. Hotdogs for $1.00. Bring a cooler or buy soft drinks on site.
I'm hooked on big screen theaters. You can see very well from Vali Hi at the way back. But if you arrive 2 hours before gates open planning to make a night of it, and park in the first 5-7 rows, you're golden! Bring any food or beverage you want, even alcohol (Just don't get drunk or you're out!). You can grill, play on the grass, walk around. It's so much fun. Key things to bringLawn chairsBUG SPRAYCoolerBlankets & Sweatshirts (no matter what the weather)A portable stereo; battery operatedThe reason you want that is you get better views outside your car and you often can't hear your own car speakers that well, so bring a radio you can set down in between your lawn chairs.
I believe Vali-Hi is now the last drive in theater left in the Twin Cities. For those of us who grew up going to drive ins, its still fun to spend the night watching three movies while eating greasy popcorn. This theater is right off of 94 in Woodbury so very easy to get to from anywhere in the Cities.
What a fun and nostalgic night. We popped our popcorn, stopped by Green Mill (Hastings) and picked up a pizza and away we went. We did not have any old thermos that leaked the red Kool-aid as you drank from it. But we had a blast. They offer three new release movies. Take a nap it is a LATE NIGHT!!
Nastalgia, it's a great place to go with kids or with friends. You can cook out and play ball before hand. One is closing sadly.
it's been a while since I visited a drivein. could not believe how it took me back to the 80's! I however did not feel like I fit in... it was sort of scary and I had no idea how early I would have to arrive in order to get a decent spot..
Always fun loading up the car with chairs, blankets, and bug spray. Sitting outside watching up to 3 movies!! Great times!! Can even grill before the movie!
