I suggested to my wife this morning that we should try to make a late reservation for a barrel tasting dinner. I called at 10:00 a.m. and a very enthusiastic voice answered, "Next Chapter Winery this Is Jackie." I was very welcomed to make a reservation for dinner. When we arrived at the winery we were greeted by Jackie and she remembered our names and handed a glass of wine of our choice. She explained the events of the evening and invited us to have some cheese and crackers with our first glass of wine. Timothy the owner, and his daughter Jackie presented a history of the winery that was very interesting and entertaining. Dinner was served by Pizza 201. They are in Montgomery Mn. Very good Beef Stroganoff. And the cake for desert was really good!Super hosts and very welcoming at Next Chapter Winery! One side note, if you partake in a barrel tasting event. You are tasting early wines that are not ready to bottle. I find it fun to taste how the wines are maturing before time to bottle. Do not conclude that the barrel tasting wines are anywhere near the quality of the final aged bottling. Enjoy the moment and wait for the good stuff! I am patiently waiting for Timothy's oaked and aged (Minnesota grown) Marquette red.

We really appreciated all the info the Daughter of the vineyard was able to share. We felt very welcome. They do not currently charge for a basic wine tasting, but we went for the $2 up charge to try all of them. Enjoyed many. Most were typical Mn type wines. Nothing really stood out. On just a side note it didn't escape me noticing that they had the barrel room set up from a party they had the night before. I am hoping that they don't leave it set up that way all the time otherwise it takes away from the specialness if you would have a party.

This was by far the best little vineyard I have visited in Minnesota. We had a wonderful, relaxing, no pressure kind of visit that made us feel like we were visiting a familiar kind of place. Our hosts were incredible friendly, experienced, and entertaining to say the least. I would recommend this Vineyard as a must visit for anyone looking to visit this type of place in Minnesota.

My wife and I went here for a dinner (catered by a local restaurant) and wine tasting. Great wine, tour and overall experience.Part of the fun is the owner - an older British gentleman who has done everything you wish you could. He was a coffee trader in the Congo, then built and sold a coffee business to Starbucks (after a chat with friend Howard Schultz). He also delivered sailboats around the world. Oh, and he makes good wine too.Try the cranberry and sauvignon blanc - outstanding. Chardonnay was excellent too. Reds were good but not grown in MN, so not as fun.A fun, unassuming winery you won't regret visiting.

We arrived the afternoon of the same day they were having the summer barrel tasting and catered dinner...but even as they were getting prepared for that the owners daughter told us about the wines & the process used to produce each..the more you knew about the grapes and wines in general the more detail she'd go into...not boring the wine enthusiast but not talking about others level of understanding...Like our friend said..." what is the best drinking one, that's all I need to know..I had tried a glass at the canon valley wine fair and decided it would be worth the 40 mile trip sometine..out of 7 I rated 2 excellent, 3 good enough to buy and 2 that I didn't like at all...I feel the more they can use fresh MN grapes instead of frozen Calif grapes their wine will inprove..after the 7 wine tasting you are encourage to buy a full glass of your favorite & tour the vineyard, which we did even in the heat of the day

We traveled on a pleasant Sunday afternoon to Next Chapter Winery after my sister had gone to a dinner event there and recommended it. Situated on a small charming farm with nice scenery. The Scottish winemaker is a joy to listen too as he tells you how he ferments his products. He serves "stinky" cheese and chocolate to complement the wine during your free tasting. You can purchase a bottle and sit on the deck outside to relax and enjoy nature. He also has a calendar of events that sound fascinating and will definitely go back to attend some. His wife is an author and has a couple titles for sale in the wine shop. The books revolve around Minnesota life. A friendly and quaint business.
