The view was spectacular! I only wish I had been there a few weeks earlier to see the fall colors. Worth stopping for on any trip to Red Wing Minnesota!
Sorin's Bluff sits high above the city of Red Wing and has a view that allows you to see the city in it's vast expanse and to see the meandering Mississippi river's path through the city of Red Wing. The hardest part about getting to this park is finding it, as it has no direct route off highway 61. We/ I came across it by accident during a trip to take photos of the area. Wase, Google or any of the better quality apps or GPS devises will save you time and effort to get to its access point. The park has several points which allow the user to view almost 360 degrees of the area. One allows viewing of the Downtown area, one allows viewing of the southern Mississippi area and one allows viewing of the western portion of the city and its farmland. The park has several locations to park and view as well as picnic areas and vast amounts of open space to fly kit, play catch, walk or even jog (well maybe you could jog) and to an extent climb. If you like to bike up hills here is a perfect chance to give the legs a workout on the road leading up to the park (See you at the top, not much room for food in the basket on my bike). As far as facilities, they are more the Port a potty (portable outhouse) type vs. the luxury hotel type. The are no vendors or vending machines. So if you go bring what you need. The park is closed during the winter months and the access is blocked off. The area as of 2014 is partially under repair, but I do not know to the extent of what is intended to be accomplished, but one is optimistic. Go enjoy and remember to have fun.If you are headed to or live in Red Wing, pack a lunch, bring the kids, even bring the pets (maybe not snakes pet snake or Mice) but the dog or even the cat is you are optimistic about their wanting to go for a walk or less likely a drag at the end of a lease.
This park had excellent views of the city. It was very clean overall. Many different trails to choose from. We would definitely stop here again. Dog friendly yet people clean up after them. Could spend hours here.
The bluff is filled with beautiful views, woods, trails, picnic areas. Many places to just sit on a blanket, or chair and read, or play basket golf. Walking trails at different skill levels and biking as well. Picnic tables have nice grills and the areas are well kept. Our family visited the bluff and went back for a cook out the next day. It is now my family's favorite spot
Wow! This has great views! Great drive! Great place for a picnic. There is a limestone mine there, this is a must see. Walter Matthau or Jack Lemmon made a "Snow Angel" there in Grumpy Old Men. So check out the film before you go!
Great place for a picnic! Wonderful views! Hiking and mountain biking trails. We stopped here for lunch and have been back several times. There is also frisbee golf at the very top of the bluff.
There is a good road to the top of Sorin's Bluff. The view from there is great -- it isn't quite as good as from Barn Bluff, but it's *much* easier to get to. There are good picnic facilities and places to walk. Even if you don't want to walk at all, the best viewpoints can be used right from your car.
Um local para ir com a familia e curtir a natureza ao redor. Fazer um pic-nic ou provar as delicias de varios locais otimos no caminho.
