Nice place but could definitely use updating. Looking forward to the changes that are to come as there is so much that will happen there every year.
Had a great time at the concert for Little Big Town. Was very impressed with the Mayo Civic Center. It is a smaller venue that adds to the concert. Loved it.
We saw Little Big Town concert here. Very comfortable chairs, great views from anywhere in the place. Easy to get too!
We toured this really fantastic Christmas tree show which was a nice respite from hospital visits and it was so convenient to be connected to the clinics.
very wide place, very good for conventions, a little disorganised so it's a bit difficult to find the place where you're headed, nice garden outside
from sports local and affar, to Presidential speeches, to bands and comedy tours, to much more happens in the civic center, the civic auditorium is connected on the north end which was the smaller version of the civic center was the huge upgrade. the civic auditorium has high school BB turniments and is the main place for the annual Eadle Cancer live telethon each january, the arts center sis right next to this, Outside all summer long is weekend bands in the park side, its called down by the river, search it on the net, Grand Funk Railroad Band of the past was the big ending this year about 12,000 came to see the Rochesterfest and the parade is all around this area , you will love this if you plan your travels and or if your looking for a place to moce to, great place, unemployments is 2.4% and in 4-5 years from now it will be negative unemployment with the MBC project with mayo clinic and Rochester expansion with over 6 Billion dollars being invested the city is expected to grow from the current 110,000 to around 160,000 in next 10-14 years.
Mayo Civic Center holds many wonderful concerts for the area......wonderful Holiday events....many fundraisers.....Barbara Bush comes to vote on the Board of Directors for Mayo Clinic held at the Auditorium.....I was the server at her table one year, and got to pour her wine ( with white gloves on) we get Country stars....Rock Stars....Comedians......in the summer, there are FREE outdoor concerts.....Gordon Lightfoot.....Marshall Tucker....oh, so many! You can hear the concerts if you can not attend; if you are close to downtown....so open your windows on Sunday night in the summer to hear wonderful....throwback memories of your life....It's a HOOT! Can bring tears too (which is also a good thing) we all need INSPIRATION wherever we can find it....ENJOY our town!
Attended conference with 400+ people. Excellent facilities. Wifi was very good. Meals served in adjacent rooms was very acceptable. Good acoustics and visibility. Other than they kept it a little too cold, that was better than being hot. Would attend there again.
The Civic Center and the Civic Theater are attached, and all the streets are one way and parking is metered, and not in an good area of downtown.
We drove down from the Twin Cities for a concert. Parking was a breeze in a local lot. The building was OK, nothing memorable. The audience was insanely rude and talked and walked up and down the aisles throughout the entire concert. Really? I would consider other venues if possible.
So, seating was cramped, sounds bounced around or were too loud, just like every other convention center. Snack bar food was surprisingly reasonably priced and quality. Restrooms adequate, everything accessible. Not an "attraction," but if your convention is held there, you go.
What I love most about this place is the ease getting in and out. You don't have to take the elevators to escape either, so if you are in relatively in shape, you'll be one of the first exiting a busy concert or event by taking the stairs. I love that it's connected to the skywalk too! You can park and eat or shop before or after your purpose for coming here. I liked it...for being in Rochester, I'm impressed.
I find the facility substandard for entertainment. I've seen several concerts over the years there and the audio is terrible. Echos, poor sound, lacking bigger names (even if they are aging bigger names). I've been to other small venues in the area such as the La Crosse Center in La Crosse WI or small venues in the Twin Cities and they offer more than a sterile environment the civic center offers. That said, i will say, the civic theater attached is a nicer venue and much more appropriate for a bedroom community such as Rochester. I would recommend seeing a play or performance there. For conferences and shows (home show comes to mind), I have to revert to substandard performance again. Lacking organization or amenities is the reason. Haphazard layouts and worst of all, charging what I feel is simply too much money for such poor events.
Great facility! The staff were wonderful and the area for the vendors was fantastic! They had really nice partitions and chairs for people to sit on. Not some junky folding chair. The place was clean and a restroom was around what seemed to be every corner! When they had the memorial it was in the presentation room which had auditorium style seating that were very comfortable
This was my first time here and I must say i am impressed. It is well run, large in size, clean, and delivers everthing it promised.
