Over 40 years of racing in Shakopee. Grew up goingnto this track. Closed for development in 2013. Many many memories.
My kids and our friends love gathering for the many different kinds of racing available here. LOVE the flag pool races and endro races. Wish they could stay open.
We had a date night out to the race park a couple weeks ago. I never expected to be a excited as I was. I don't consider myself a "race car" fan. I don't know anything about racing-but my husband and I had a blast watching near crashes, crazy figure 8 racing, and the "old timers". We have 2 very young children (2 and 6 months) I wouldn't recommend bringing kids that young, but for kids a bit older it would be a great family outing!
We love Raceway Park because it is one of the most affordable and family friendly entertainment spots in the Twin Cities area. Great fun, lots of bumping and crashing and an adrenaline rush when the cars are racing for the finish line. We hope to see you on Sunday!
I have been going to Raceway Park in Shakopee, MN for over 30 years. I was brought there as a kid and I bring my daughter there. The prices are reasonable and the entertainment is amazing. I've raced there for many years and consider many of the staff, fans, and fellow competitors like family and wouldn't ever want to spend my Sunday evenings (and other special event dates) anywhere else. Be sure to check it out!
Usually on Sunday nights with old cars that race around, along with figure 8 and sometimes with a demolition derby! Used to spend a lot of time here right after I graduated high school in the late 60's!
This will be the last year of racing and we are very sad to see this iconic local entertainment venue go! where else can you see crazy eight racign and bus demos???
Just a great way to entertain the kids or whomever. Worth trying even if you aren't into racing. If you like fried food, you love the food stands. Lots of racing excitement for the buck. Stands are close to the track and there's usually some special something or other to get a laugh out of. Only bad thing is sometimes the parking can be a pain when everyone leaves at one time.
The show this place puts on every Sunday night in the summer is amazing! Special event are always spectacular as well, often on Friday's and holidays. I'm a big racing fan, and while I like NASCAR on TV, there is nothing like seeing it in person. This is a smaller track, about 1/4 mile, but the action is pretty impressive. The racers are all local drivers who take a lot of pride in their cars and their driving. The competition on the track is fierce, but in the pits afterwards everyone seems to be good friends. When you go, do make sure to stay after and visit the pits to meet the drivers and see the cars. Depending on the night it's $12-$15 to get in for an adult, when you consider that the events are normally about 4 hours it actually seems like a good deal.
The kids loved this track. IT was not that expensive and it was loud! We had to bring ear protection( we always do) but this place really nneded it. It was a good time.
