My wife and I made a short trip to The Great White North to see the Apostle Islands Ice Caves and spent some time sightseeing in Duluth, Mn. also. We walked around Canal Park for about an hour (after all it was still winter) and really enjoyed the sights and sounds of Duluth from this special vantage. All of the old shipping artifacts (anchors and props) the Lighthouse and pier, being able to stand right beside the lake freighter William A Irvin and seeing the huge draw bridge for these ships to go through the canal (in season), it is a very cool area. I can't wait to plan another trip to the Northlands in the summer and see the great ships passing through the draw bridge and the entire lake area in warmer weather.
Canal park is wonderful in the winter. The parking was free. We walked out on Lake Superior and took some great pictures of the lift bridge and also walked out to the brick ruins near water front. We crawled inside this icy structure and was amazed by the ice formations inside. We wore snow boots and was able to walk on the lake without too much trouble. If you come here in the winter it is definitely worth seeing. ..
Nicest, quietest hotels in Duluth. Great restaurants to choose from, in a wide range of ethnicity. Unique shops and spas. Views and attractions to capture your attention.
Cool, neat area. Shop, visit, stroll, eat. Enjoy the scenery. Summers are best of course.. Friendly people, animal friendly.
Always something going on. People to watch, great food choices. Hotel choices, The Lakewalk. All right in waling distance of each other
Canal park has it all. Dining, hotels, shopping and scenic views. No matter what you like to do, you can probably find something to enjoy in this little stretch of Duluth. There isn't much you can't find, see or do to spend an afternoon or an evening. Great place to sip a cup of coffee and watch the sun come up on the board walk!
Something fun about Canal Park. We go there every year, and never get tired of it. Try it and you'll do it again. I guarantee.
The views of Lake Superior are great from the Lakewalk and the lighthouse pier. The walk was even clear in late January. There are many restaurants and fun shops in Canal Park too. It is easily walkable. Park your car and enjoy.
Nice park with shops and places to walk around. The obvious centerpiece is the lift bridge that towers above and the ships that pass by. Watched a couple of ships pass by and walked down the pier to the lighthouse and back. Pretty views of the shoreline from the pier. Plenty of dining options for everyone including Grandmas restaurant!! Will come back in the summer!!
We stopped and drove through and walked a bit, but we are anxious to return again. Will be on our to do this summer
The Canal is cool but there isn't a ton to do at the Canal itself. It is close to many cool things so there's a good chance something fun will start or end here. You'll pay for parking.
Had a great time walking the shoreline, reading the history, and shopping. The Lodge hotel was very nice and Bentleyville was festive and fun, including ice skating!
We love Canal Park, nice variety of unique shops, restaurants, hotels, sight seeing and is great for beer lovers.
view the lake, the shipping, the shopping. There is some night life. Excellent food in a number of restaurants.
We love the Canal Park area. The area has everything you would want. Beautiful scenery with Lake Superior, Aerial lift bridge, Boardwalk and all the shops and restaurants a person would want.
