firetrucker brewery

I'm not a huge craft beer lover, I'm still searching for my favorite. I tried the Burnout Brown on our last visit and I sort of like that one. I know I do not like the lemonade one. I told the server at the bar I like something like a Summer Shandy, but their lemon beer was way too sweet! Love that they have guest food vendors, we have been there for the grilled cheese which were great and the Big Green Egg guy who was making pizza, fantastic! Oktoberfest was great, loved the polka band! Follow them on Facebook to know what food vendors and guest beers they are having.Firetrucker is a perfect stop when you're out on your bike, right on the trail in Ankeny. Really great atmosphere both indoor and outside. Great addition to Ankeny!I know it's a brewery but would love to see some Iowa wine choices, not all of us love beer even though our other half does :)

The venue is very nice, the beer is below average. I am sure the brews will get better as the place matures, but right now I would suggest drinking their guest beers and just sampling their house brews.

Last night i went with a group of colleagues to the Firetrucker brewery in Ankeny. This is a brand new micro brewery opened up in an old fire station - it has a great atmosphere and some remarkable beers - I tried a sampler flight and then a few follow up beers - my favourite was the First Responder Red, and I also enjoyed very much the Steam Engine and the Uptown IPA. We complemented our beers with some excellent pizza that the friendly bar staff ordered in for us. if you like good quality craft beer at excellent prices then the Firetrucker Brewery is a great place to visit.
