We are from an area of the country that rarely sees snow let alone enough to tube or ski. The relatives we were visiting brought us here and the kids had a blast. Two hours of tubing was $18 per person which I thought was quite reasonable. Had this not been our last day we would have come back and given the snowboarding a shot. I realize these are not big slopes but with nothing similar to compare it to it was a really fun time!
These guys do great work. We went on a weekday on a beautiful summer day, the equipment is adequate, the service is better than you'd expect, the river is perfect for a family float.
My buddy and brother had a joint bachelor party in the Des Moines area. Instead of the typical golf game, I decided to give Seven Oaks a shot for our day event. We definitely were not disappointed! The rates were reasonable, the service was great and the tubes had convenient drink holders already in them! It was an awesome time reminiscing, joking and laughing.Overall, I would definitely use them again if I'm in the Des Moines are. It definitely beats the logistics of doing it yourself. All you have to have with you is your cooler!
My son learned to ski 2 years ago and learned to snowboard last year. The instructors where great! He can now ski and snowboard at the age of 10 and cant wait for next winter.
My husband and I went on a float trip down the Des Moines River and enjoyed it immensely. The staff took us upriver a mile or so and got us into the canoe and off we went. They picked us up downriver later on in the day. Seven Oaks also has snow skiing in the winter and it's always busy. They are a great asset to our area.
Great day with the family. We go skiing or boarding a few times each winter. Prices reasonable, especially food and drinks, good rental equipment, free lessons, clean bathhrooms, good parking . Customer service is excellent! Always very helpful. In fact, I had forgotten to bring my own skiis home with us after a great day of skiing. Two weeks later I was packing up the car for another day at Seven Oaks when I realized I left them behind at our previous trip. I called and they had them! Thanks Dee! Your a life saver.Great family fun. To the Seven Oaks staff. Thanks Again!!Dominick
Just attended an outdoor wedding at 7 Oaks and the setting was beautiful. Reception was inside the lodge. A nice place with lots of ambiance. There is plenty of sporting opportunity year round here with tubing, canoeing, and kayaking the DM river nearby and mountain bike trails for warm weather. The ski hill is perfect in winter. Our church had an outdoor Bible school there a few years ago and it was the perfect place to learn about God and his creation. Staff is more than accommodating. They go out of their way to please.
Boone is lucky to have Seven Oaks. My wife and I kayaked the shorter trip, and we had a blast. The scenery was beautiful, and the staff was personal and great. Can't wait to come back during the winter for skiing!
There were nine of us that went tubing-ages 10 to 40. We all had a blast!! The price was reasonable, the staff was friendly. It was a very relaxing day and well worth our time. We will be visiting again soon. We went on a Tuesday morning and had the river to ourselves. The weekends are busier and probably not as family friendly. This is a day trip for all ages!!
We just finished our Annual Seven Oaks Family Tubing Trip and as usual we had a absolute blast! The thing that makes Seven Oaks stand out from the rest is the amazing staff they employ. From the front desk girls to the bus drivers to the guys helping you get on and off the float. They are kind, helpful, & fun. Thanks again Seven Oaks!
I took a 8 and 10 year old skiing for the first time at Seven Oaks. The hills were just the perfect size and amount of time for a nice learning experience. The staff and free instructors were very accomodating. Obviously this is not Colorado but if you just want a nice day to learn how to ski or to get a skiing fix in, this is the place to go in central Iowa.
is it colorado good? no. Is it the closest thing you can find to it in the Des Moines area? yes. Staff is super friendly. Multiple trails. Two tripple lifts. A little pricey for the number of trails they have but the snow is much better than the other places in town. they do a pretty decent job of maintaining the snow. i was surprised at the good quailty of beers available at the bar in the lodge.
I have not ever visited Seven Oaks. I gave it a average rating also because of the comments i have heard about it and it sounds like a good place to take a family or a group.
Seems like they always have something going on no matter the season. If you don't ski you can sit in the lounge and watch everyone out on the hill. In the summer take a trip down the river. Great fun!
My husband and I decided to try kayaking for the first time with Seven Oaks. Everything about the trip was easy. The staff were friendly and helpful. We went on a Monday morning (one of their least busy times). The staff helped us into our kayaks and into the water. We had clear instructions on where to exit the river to be picked-up. We let a group of teenagers start off ahead of us and after they were out of sight, we didn't see anyone else on the river during our trip. It was quiet and relaxing. We saw twin fawns drinking from the river, ducks, great blue herons, and numerous song birds. At one point you pass under a huge railroad bridge. We had hoped to see a train pass overhead, but after paddling for 25 minutes, we gave up. Of course as soon as we rounded the next bend, we heard the train...
