A great place to purchase gifts as well as decorating ideas. The event offers something for all ages, a real family atmosphere.
This event is something my Family goes to at least once a year. It is very affordable and there is plenty of things to look at and do. You can view local art pieces, christmas trees, & wreaths. Or you can watch local performances (singing, dancing, etc). There is also a place for children to visit santa and play games. I would highly recommend checking it out! Also there is a parking garage if you can't find a place to park on the street.
The Festival of Trees showcases not only dozens of Christmas Trees, but also door wreaths, mantle scenes, and dioramas of Christmas scenes. There are both traditional and contemporary styles showcased. I have never had a bad time! Some times the talent show leaves something to be desired, but it's an amateur talent show, so you'll have that same times! ;)
I have enjoyed going to the Festival of Trees for years. Great for taking children and looking at trees. Although I dislike the huge crowds, it is fun to go there and see the trees!
I take my children to the festival of trees every year. They loving seeing the trees and also going and seeing Santa Clause in Santa's village where you can play games and make yummy snacks while awaiting Santa's arrival. You wont be disapointed with this attraction as long as you enjoy everything Christmas. There are trees, trains, ginger bread houses, and christmas goodies and candies. They also have shows that are put on by local children and schools. Some of the shows contain music and or dance. This is a great event that your family can enjoy every year.
Grrr...not ba humbug..just frustrated with lack of effort from the FOT powers that be every year. This past Sunday was my first time back in 2 years..and of course I was bored with the same half attempts on trees and mantels. Don't even get me going on the "entertainment". I'm certain Sunshine Dance knows they will performing for the FOT..they are there every year, however, they perform as if they just learned their routine the night before. It was painfully embarrassing for not only the darling children, but for their parents. Be sure to have a bite to eat before going..$3.50 for a hotdog that could be used as a weapon!! Needless to say, until I hear of changes of improvements, I will donate my $8 to a different organization. Step it up FOT!
This event takes place every year in Davenport. Its a very relaxing place to visit. There are a ton of beautifully decorated tress to see. They are also available to bid on.
A truly great way of kicking off the Holiday Season! We try to attend at least every other year - watching children, when they first get to see all these Christmas trees is simply precious! There always are other exhibits to admire also, for example decorated gingerbread houses - it's a delightful way of getting into the spirit of the season!
this beautiful holiday tradition only lasts 10 days. it costs $8 adults & $3 kids. SAVE by planning ahead! Hy-Vee grocery stores sell $1 off tickets & anyone with IHMVCU (a local credit union) accounts get in 1/2 price at the door(BOGO) by showing a membership card. TV stations are offering online BOGO tickets at $4 each 2 weeks prior to opening in 2013, when it will be open starting Nov. 23rd with a parade. this parade has giant "Macy's style balloons" that use several people to control them. the parade is the hugest of its kind in the Midwest! the parade has always started at 11am, but is starting earlier this year, at 10:15am. then the tree show area opens. you will definitely get tons of decorating ideas here! décor includes the gingerbread houses, wreaths, doors, stockings, fireplaces, & of course hundreds of trees! there's also sweets, gift baskets, art, & more. the parade is near brady street in downtown davenport, on 2nd & 3rd streets. get there early to find close parking in several lots. street-side parking is free on weekends & after 5 pm weekdays. come see this great festival of trees in november! it's definitely worth the trip to the quad cities! I go almost every couple years.
The concept is that people and groups decorate Christmas trees, and what a great variety are created by people who are very creative and others who are not. The ginger bread houses were a nice side exhibit. Great place to do some shopping for really unusual and sometimes unique items.
An annual event that begins Thanksgiving weekend. The event opening day features a Christmas parade through downtown Davenport. The River Center hall is filled with Christmas trees and wreaths decorated by local businesses, groups and individuals who compete for prizes. The trees and wreaths are raffled off at the end of the show to those who purchase special raffle tickets. There are usually booths selling hand made Christmas tree ornaments and refreshments are offered for a reasonable price and there is usually some form of entertainment going on. We try to attend this event every year.
The festival is nice, but its the same thing every year- trees. They charge admission if your child performs there - that is probably the main source of revenue.
I wanted to bring my mother to see it again this year. In the years past, she had been a regular contributor and was happy to see it again. Will be back. She (we) had a great time.
We go every year to see all of the decorations and there is a kids play area that is fantastic for the little ones! Santa is there every day for pictures as well.
The FOT is great family fun. The lights and decorations are fun for the kids to see. The train display is always a hit. The raffle tickets are well priced. Deifnitely a yearly family tradition at Thanksgiving time.
