Whether you "into" cactus, blooming flowers, or Japanese gardens, the Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens never fails to impress. Maintained with volunteers steeped in knowledge, the plants always seem to be at their best. The Gardens can be an inspiration for someone deciding what to add to their property or just the place for a casual stroll. One of my favorite experiences was being invited to a wedding in the Gardens. Don't miss the opportunity to see this very special place on your way around Dubuque
The gardens and plant selections are exquisite! Strolling around the grounds is very relaxing and enjoyable. The staff of volunteers that make it work do a wonderful job of sharing their passion and knowledge of the gardens.
The Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens is an ever changing masterpiece. This is cared for by dedicated volunteers and is suitable for all ages. Gaze in awe at the waterful, have a peaceful moment at the Japense garden, admire the myriad pieces of sculpture. Music in the gardens is free every Sunday evening during the summer months. A beautiful screened in porch is the perfect place for a cool beverage. If you like to shop the gift shop is very affordable and has a nice selection of items.
The Dubuque Arboretum gets better every year as new displays are added and plantings are expanded. We particularly enjoy Sunday evening music performances from June through August. A walk through the beautiful seasonal gardens followed by a picnic and glass of wine with wide-ranging musical entertainment is the perfect conclusion to warm summer weekends. Bring your own lawn chairs!
Great place to just relax with a picnic lunch and good book or a beautiful place for a small intimate wedding
The Dubuque Arboretum is a beautiful location to take a walk, play at the park, take family pictures, soak up creation.... Home to a HUGE hosta garden, a beautiful rose garden, and live music during the summer!
This was a great place to take pictures of many different kind of flowers only available in the masters garden. Also had a great time in the big dome garden as it was the freshest air I've been around in a very long time.
I just love this beautiful garden!! Always something different to see, great place for a special event or even a romantic picnic lunch. Must be seen when in the area.
This beautiful garden is a real treasure any season of the year. And it is FREE to the visitor. Established in 1980 by volunteers, it continues today as a volunteer driven treasure supported by two professional staff. Large collections of Hosta, Roses, Herbs, Annuals, Perennials, flowering shrubs and trees and two superb collections of Dwarf and Unusual Conifers are just some of the attractions in this garden. Over 60 acres in size, there are water features, Japanese and English gardens, trails, children's gardens and plenty of benches strategically placed for your convenience. Allow 3-4 hours to enjoy this wonderful Dubuque treasure. And remember that tours and cart tours can be arranged by calling ahead. 563-556-2100. This garden is supported by donations, grants, gifts, bequests, memorials and fees for use of facilities such as for weddings. If you find yourself in Dubuque, Iowa do not miss this garden experience.
On our last day in Dubuque we decided to visit the gardens as they had good reviews. We were delighted with this choice. They have obviously had a lot of time and money spent on them and the result is well worth it. We were informed at the visitor centre that it was maintained by volunteers and they do a wonderful job. Although it was the start of autumn or fall as the Americans call it, there is still plenty to see. It was very tranquil and we spent a good 3 hours wandering through the different gardens. Would highly recommend this to all who like to be out of doors.
This is a fine public garden completely built and run by volunteers. The Japanese garden is a highlight and is situated in a perfect setting. Everything was well kept. Not to be missed.
It was very easy to walk around this garden and laid out very nicely. Enjoyed the koi pond and little waterfall. I definitely want to come back in the spring/summer when everything is blooming.
my daughter loves to walk around and see the flowers. I recommended stopping in the gift shop and buying some koi food for $1. It is a lot of fun for the kids!
The grounds are beautiful! Wonderful place to take out of town guests and the out door music events are great!
We spent the morning wandering around these lovely gardens! It's small enough to be able to see it all, yet filled with many varieties, colors, etc. if I lived in Dubuque I would spend my lunch hours in this lovely peaceful place surrounded by its beauty! We did think that there was a cafe there for us to eat lunch...but sadly there was not.
